MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN at OPAL FOODS COOPERATIVE INC – Litchfield, Minnesota

Opal Foods is hiring a Farm Maintenance Technician for our Litchfield, MN farm. In this job you would maintain all equipment in the laying hen houses. Successful candidates must be able to work in a farm/live animal (dusty) environment. We take pride in maintaining compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations including safety, bio-security and animal welfare requirements. Pay determined based on relevant experience.

Position Responsibilities:

• Keep equipment running and operating safely and efficiently by maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment such as electric motors, pneumatic systems, and conveyor systems.
• Perform preventive and urgent maintenance on production machinery and equipment
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
• Take a proactive approach to issue resolution including root cause analyses and error proofing controls related to down time
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment to perform duties
• Detect and report faulty operations, defective material and any unusual situations to the proper supervisor
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
• Assist the Production Team with other projects and duties as needed

Physical Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:

• Fast paced work environment
• Lift fifty or more pounds on a regular basis
• Bend, lift, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb
• Work in a general farm environment around live animals

Requirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)

• Mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Previous experience troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairing industrial processing equipment
• Organized and detail oriented
• Must work some weekends
• Able and willing to work off schedule shifts and/or nights when necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience in maintenance related roles
