Barista at Pullman Market – San Antonio, Texas

Pullman Market is looking for experienced, passionate Baristas to join our team. You will be the heart of our coffee experience, creating and serving delicious beverages with a friendly smile. Your passion for coffee, exceptional customer service, and attention to detail will contribute to providing a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests. We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about coffee culture and dedicated to delivering a memorable experience to every customer.

Operational Responsibilities:

• Craft high-quality coffee and espresso beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, and specialty drinks, following standard recipes and techniques.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of all beverages.
• Greet customers warmly, take orders, and provide product recommendations, including pastries and merchandise.
• Create a positive and engaging customer experience, addressing customer inquiries and concerns.
• Accurately process payments.
• Keep the coffee preparation area, service counter, and dining area clean and well-organized.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as wiping surfaces, sanitizing equipment, and disposing of waste.
• Stay informed about coffee blends, brewing methods, and menu updates.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth operation during peak hours.
• Communicate effectively with the team to coordinate tasks and maintain a positive work environment.
• Consistently deliver outstanding guest service and hospitality to ensure a welcoming and memorable experience at all times.
• Learn how to maintain cleanliness and functionality of the coffee equipment.
• Dial in espresso and maintain proper extraction settings throughout the day.
• Steam milk to the proper texture and temperature throughout the day.

• Be an ambassador for the company and maintain professionalism in and outside of work.
• Ability to provide service with friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ability to handle guest inquiries and resolve issues professionally.
• Exceptional attention to detail in coffee preparation, presentation, and cleanliness.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with guests and team members.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Adaptability to changing priorities and tasks.
• Texas Food handler and TABC certification. Experience is not needed, but preferred.

Working Conditions:

• A typical work week for this position is 30-40 hours. Hours vary based on needs of the market and the department.
• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting objects up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment is possible.
• Familiarity with office equipment such as phones, computers, fax machines, and copiers may be required.
