About This Position

Description:

The Acupuncturist is a key member of the integrative health team, responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture techniques. This role includes evaluating patients’ physical and emotional health, developing personalized treatment plans, and providing evidence-based holistic therapies to support wellness, pain management, and disease prevention. The ideal candidate demonstrates a patient-centered and culturally sensitive approach and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, high-quality care.   • Participates as a member of the healthcare team, contributing to the planning and delivery of optimal patient care.
  • Conducts comprehensive patient evaluations, including review of medical history, symptoms, lifestyle, and tongue and pulse diagnosis.
  • Develops and implements individualized acupuncture treatment plans using traditional medicine principles and modern clinical guidelines.
  • Administers acupuncture treatments using sterile techniques and follows clean needle protocols to ensure patient safety.
  • Incorporates adjunct therapies such as cupping, moxibustion, tui na, gua sha, or herbal recommendations when appropriate.
  • Treats a variety of conditions including musculoskeletal pain, stress and anxiety, migraines, digestive disorders, insomnia, and women’s health issues.
  • Provides education to patients about acupuncture, self-care strategies, dietary guidance, and lifestyle changes that support healing and well-being.
  • Collaborates with primary care providers, behavioral health specialists, and other clinicians to support coordinated, integrated care.
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Monitors treatment outcomes and adjusts care plans as needed to achieve optimal therapeutic results.
  • Participates in team meetings, interdisciplinary case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming clinical environment.
  • Promotes integrative health education and supports outreach efforts to underserved and diverse communities.
  • Stays current with advancements in acupuncture, integrative medicine, and healthcare regulations through continuing education and professional development.
  • Knowledgeable of and compliant with laws and regulations governing area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for reporting any potentially non-compliant conduct.
  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations and other relevant laws to protect patient privacy and confidentiality in all communications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the executive leadership and administration.
Requirements:
  • Doctorate degree in Acupuncture or Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from an accredited program
  • Current and valid Acupuncturist license issued by the State of California
  • Certification by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) preferred
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in an outpatient, integrative, or community health setting preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience working with diverse and underserved populations preferred
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team
  • Cultural sensitivity and commitment to providing equitable, patient-centered care

Language Requirements

  • Spanish speaking, required.
