FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANT (Part-Time) at Youth Crisis Center Inc – Jacksonville, Florida

Position Overview

Manage kitchen and dining area with regard to meal planning, preparation, and service including all related documentation and purchasing, and custodial needs in compliance with Health Department and funders´ standards.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of purchasing, food preparation, meal planning, stocking, rotation, and inventory.
• Knowledge of sanitation and custodial requirements.
• Food Handlers/ Food Management requirements.

Skills:

Operation of kitchen equipment, safety, and general maintenance. Work with/without supervision and in an organized manner. Work with other staff to engage clients during educational activities.

Abilities:

• Ability to develop and follow pre-approved menu.
• Carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure food preparation meets required caloric counts, has pleasing flavor, texture, appearance and palatability. (RDAs)
• Purchase online, stock, rotate and inventory food, health/beauty items and related supplies, following procedures for requisition and obtaining receipts.
• Sanitation and custodial maintenance of related food service areas to meet health department requirements.
• With residential staff present, periodically engage clients in educational food service activities.
• Work independently and within a team on special, nonrecurring, and ongoing projects.
• Completes all paperwork as required.
• Keep required documentation and related records.
• Responsible for personal training objectives.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or (GED) and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training.

Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use basic measurements.

Physical Demands

Incumbent will be required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
