We are seeking a Manager to support financial management, audit readiness, and internal controls activities within a federal government environment. This role will primarily support the Program Management Office (PMO) while contributing to internal controls testing, audit liaison activities, and financial management initiatives that support transparency, compliance, and data-driven decision-making.
The ideal candidate will bring experience supporting internal control frameworks, federal financial reporting, and audit readiness programs. Candidates should be comfortable working with large datasets, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting remediation efforts tied to financial statement audits or internal control assessments. Experience with data analytics tools or advanced data analysis techniques is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accounting and technical support to implement, test, and report on internal controls including Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) and Internal Controls Over Financial Systems (ICOFS).
- Support activities associated with the Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Improvement Act (IPERIA) and related compliance efforts.
- Assist with internal control testing activities including risk assessments, tests of design, and tests of operating effectiveness.
- Support remediation activities associated with financial statement audit findings or internal control deficiencies.
- Maintain and support an Audit Readiness and Sustainment Program Risk Management Strategy, including associated metrics and reporting.
- Coordinate audit-related documentation and data requests between auditors and program stakeholders.
- Maintain automated tools and tracking systems used to support audit readiness and financial operations.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret large and complex financial datasets using Microsoft Office tools, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot tables.
- Provide flexible support to financial management initiatives and PMO priorities as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of federal accounting experience, including at least 2 years supporting Department of Defense (DoD) accounting.
- Strong knowledge of the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) and federal financial reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting financial reporting requirements in accordance with OMB Circular A-136.
- Familiarity with the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM) and DoD Financial Management Regulations (FMR).
- Ability to compile and analyze large and complex datasets, including advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Federal Financial Statements and Agency Financial Reports (AFR).
- Experience supporting property accounting and reporting within the DoD environment, including familiarity with applicable DoD FMR guidance and SFFAS standards.
- Experience supporting Management’s Internal Control Program (MICP).
- Familiarity with OMB A-123 internal control requirements.
- Exposure to data analytics tools or techniques used to support financial decision-making.
