About the role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR and Learning Partner to provide strategic and operational Human Resources support while leading the organisation's Learning & Development (L&D) function. This role works closely with leaders to drive workforce performance, uplift capability, and build a high‑integrity, secure and engaged workplace.

What you'll do

  • Partner with leaders to provide high‑quality, timely and pragmatic HR advice aligned with business objectives.
  • Support organisational design, workforce planning and change management activities.
  • Manage employee relation matters end‑to‑end with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation and Defence‑industry requirements, including DISP, security and export controls.
  • Contribute to culture, engagement and organisational development initiatives.
  • Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of Learning & Development programs, including technical training, leadership development and compliance training.
  • Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure accurate, compliant training records.
  • Embed consistent onboarding, training and development pathways that support employee experience and capability growth.
  • Ensure governance, accuracy and consistency across all learning, development and training processes.
  • Partner with leaders to understand business priorities and promote learning and capability initiatives and strengthen performance.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Lead disciplined planning, tracking and reporting of the L&D budget.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Australian and New Zealand legislation, industrial instruments and internal HR frameworks.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgement in sensitive HR matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across multiple sites and business units.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Human Resources, Learning & Development or a related People & Culture role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering L&D programs across technical, leadership and compliance areas.
  • Confidence managing employee relation matters with sound judgement and professionalism with excellent communication skills with an ability to build strong, trusted stakeholder relationships.
  • High integrity, discretion and comfort working within a secure or Defence‑aligned environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, or related discipline, highly advantageous and proficiency in Microsoft 365 essential.
