Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s environmental, health, and safety programs. This role helps ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, EPA, local regulatory requirements, and internal company policies. The EHS Coordinator works closely with supervisors, leads, and employees to promote a strong safety culture, prevent injuries, and maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Job Functions

  • Assists with the development of the Safety vision and action plans for all Company facilities; including culture change for safety programs.
  • Works cross functionally with all departments to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Enforces safety work practices and investigates workplace accidents.
  • Responds and provides guidance and assistance for all emergency situations.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of the job safety program.
  • Maintains the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) System.
  • Develops and maintains the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), accident and training records and updates regulatory logs.
  • Coordinates Workers’ Compensation benefits and incident tracking with provider.
  • Acts as a primary liaison, along with the EHS Supervisor, for all OSHA related compliance and investigatory issues.
  • Maintains, creates, communicates, and enforces compliance with safety-related policies and procedures.
  • Identifies safety issues and recommends appropriate disciplinary and corrective actions for safety-related infractions.
  • Assists with determining the need for new safety-related policies and procedures that may include writing, editing, and updating policy and procedure documents, handbooks, and posters.
  • Frequently performs safety inspections in all job site locations, offices, and company vehicles.
  • Ensures all contractors, vendors, and customers comply with all applicable safety policies.
  • Administers the Safety Shoe Program, Safety Eyewear Program, Personal Productive Equipment program and security door access process.
  • Administers annual, required training, including but not limited to ammonia, first aid/CPR, forklift, hearing, respiratory protection, etc.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Job Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience supporting workplace safety, environmental health, or EHS related programs, preferably in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace safety principles and environmental health regulations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and general safety compliance requirements.
  • Ability to assist with safety inspections, audits, and hazard identification.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills for maintaining safety records and reports.
  • Ability to support safety training and employee awareness programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established safety procedures.
  • Basic understanding of incident reporting and corrective action processes.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for working with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze information and identify potential safety risks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
  • Willingness to learn regulatory requirements and industry safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience collaborating and supporting continuous improvement programs and Lean Manufacturing practices in environmental health and safety is highly desired.
  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification.
  • Exposure to safety training programs or safety committees.
  • Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field preferred.
