The role
We are looking for a Payroll and Accounts Payable Coordinator to support payroll, benefits, and accounts payable within our accounting team. This role is essential to ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, and that vendors receive accurate, timely support. You will take ownership of daily processes and work closely with both internal teams and external partners.
Main responsibilities
- Process payroll across multiple provinces, ensuring accuracy and compliance with employment standards.
- Manage payroll changes related to new hires, terminations, and Records of Employment, including ROE filing.
- Process and remit payroll taxes and statutory deductions such as CPP, EI, payroll taxes, EHT, and WCB.
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and prepare payroll reports for management and external audits.
- Complete monthly and year-end payroll and benefits reconciliations, including T4 preparation.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrolment, ongoing updates, and responding to employee inquiries related to pay, deductions, and tax forms.
- Process vendor invoices and company credit card receipts, ensuring accurate coding, policy compliance, and timely entry into the accounting system.
- Match purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices, resolving discrepancies as required.
- Prepare and complete monthly credit card reconciliations.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in payroll and accounts payable.
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with accounting systems.
- Experience with ADP and ERP systems is an asset.
- PCP designation is preferred.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with employees across the organization.
- Able to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to support payroll and month-end deadlines as needed.
- Quick to learn new systems and processes, with an openness to feedback and direct communication.
- Experience with multi-provincial and/or U.S. payroll is an asset.
