The HVAC/R Service Technician III plays an integral part in the QuesTec Service Team. This employee is responsible for the troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, maintenance and installation of HVAC and related equipment as assigned per manager and according to contractual commitments between QuesTec and client. Daily coordination of activities, routes and projects are expected to be accomplished both efficiently and effectively. The HVAC/R Service Technician III is a primary contact with the client and is expected to represent QuesTec with utmost professionalism at all times.

2. Reports to General Manager

PRIMARY DUTIES

1. Expertly installs, repairs, maintains or replaces heating, cooling systems, ventilation, refrigeration and or component parts according to requirements. Common systems include: Trane, Lennox, and Daikin; occasionally working with Carrier, American Standard, Mitsubishi, and VRF.
2. Travels to job sites in service area and work closely with Dispatcher to ensure client schedule is maintained to the best of the Service Tech’s ability
3. Reviews work schedule daily to adhere to and optimize work hours
4. Follows systematic questioning techniques and troubleshooting guidelines to determine unit/equipment functionality and/or failure
5. Proactively engaged in Preventative Maintenance work and initiates PM calls to clients
6. Accurately communicates unit/equipment issues to manager and clients
7. Promptly and accurately completes all required paperwork daily, documenting in detail all work performed and/or installed as well as all time associated with calls/projects
8. Available for on-call rotation at all times
9. Available to service emergency calls on weekdays, weeknights and weekends, as needed

SECONDARY DUTIES

1. Maintains vehicle and tools weekly, keeping equipment clean and ready for work
2. Stays abreast of industry trends and Company-specific procedures to further OTJ knowledge
3. Communicates with Dispatcher to mitigate scheduling conflicts and delays
4. Maintains positive and proactive communication with clients
5. Actively seeks opportunities to enhance client systems
6. Provides Sales with qualified leads and alerts Sales to competitive sales efforts
7. Provides guidance and work direction to HVAC Service Technicians I and II, when appropriate
8. Participate in meetings, workshops, training and seminars as required
9. Other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee is regularly exposed to moderate levels of heat, cold, moisture, wind and sun. The noise level in the work environment is low with an occasional exposure to moderate levels.

1. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Associates degree from accredited technical school in the HVAC program preferred
2. EPA certification
3. Well-groomed, neat appearance
4. Valid class D driver’s license and clean driving record
5. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
6. Valid social security number
7. Observe and abide by all Company procedures and safety rules
8. Ability to work and interact with others in a positive manner

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on own
2. Ability to push, pull, carry and maneuver heavy items (with additional manpower or appropriate tools)
3. Ability to lift ladders from vehicle racks, carry and climb ladders up to 28’ in length
4. Ability to withstand long periods of standing, squatting, stooping and crawling (stationary positions up to 50% of time)
5. Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands
6. Ability to effectively perform work at ground level, above ground level, below ground level and in confined spaces

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of six years of experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting a diverse array of HVAC service issues
2. Knowledge of commercial mechanical and electrical systems
3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret diagrams, plans and manuals
4. Attention to detail and quality of work performed
5. Ability to work independently, with excellent time management skills
6. Good communications skills, both written and verbal
7. Good organizational skills
