Job Description

SIU Fire/Theft Adjuster - MGA - Brownsville, TX

Description of Position:

This position handles all fire and theft claims as well as SIU and field investigations. The position requires in-depth interviewing skills, experience with making coverage and liability decisions on insurance claims, the ability to balance customer service, and ensuring all relevant information is obtained to make a claim decision. The position is an excellent opportunity for those interested in SIU and is fast paced, challenging and very rewarding. The role requires two years experience either in SIU or Claims as well as the ability to obtain an adjuster license in Texas and other states. Candidates who already have their adjuster’s license are preferred.

Job Details:

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle auto claims, in accordance with Texas Law, in an assigned area to include verification of coverage, negligence and extent of damage to persons, and property, which may require contact by telephone, correspondence, or virtual technology.
  • Work with SIU Investigators on all claims and assist in identifying all red flags, organized activity, and conduct field investigations of clinics, shops, and other places as needed.
  • Work Major Case Investigations, facilitate roundtable meetings, analysis, development of facts and evidence and coordination with outside SIU contacts, NICB, Industry, Trade groups and Departments of Insurance and/or law enforcement agencies
  • Detect and deter insurance fraud
  • Provide superior service as you assist customers through the claims process in a virtual or centralized call center.
  • Ensure integrity of investigations by developing accurate and relevant investigation material and data acquisition
  • Resolve claim calls with professionalism and empathy while meeting phone staffing metrics.
  • Issue payments as per discretionary settlement authority limits.
  • Adjust reserves properly and understand their impact on a claim
  • Draft well written letters
  • Exhibit knowledge to review written repair estimates
  • Ability to read and understand insurance policies and apply the knowledge when making claim decisions.
  • Ensure that all compliance requirements for claims handling correspondence are met in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or comparable experience
  • Bilingual is preferred but not required
  • Proficient and possess excellent navigation skills with computer window-based programs as well as Windows and Google Suites.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
