The University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in stellar astrophysics. The group's activities include studies of stellar evolution, stellar multiplicity, stellar populations, supernova remnants, and supernova progenitors. This position will be responsible for conducting cutting edge research in this field, including but not limited to scientific exploitation of the data generated by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. In addition, the hired individual will be expected to participate in grant writing, writing manuscripts for publication, presenting at conferences, ensuring compliance with safety, and assisting with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
Position Details:
The position is funded initially for one year and housed within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh working with Dr. Carlos Badenes and collaborators. The position may be extended pending funding and performance. Start date is as soon as practicable, preferably on or before September 1st, 2027. Successful conferral of your PhD is required prior to the start of your appointment.
Required:
A PhD in physics, astrophysics, or a related field.
A track record of excellence in research, demonstrated by scholarly publications.
Preferred:
Mentoring experience.
Experience working in large collaborations.
