POSITION: Utility Machine Dept Laborer
COMPANY: United Equipment Accessories, Inc.
POSITION SUMMARY:
· The main function of this position is to make parts in the MDept as well as support paint prep, Vibe area, and cover modifications
· Support YSA with installing slip rings on Hydraulic swivels and other tasks as needed
· Review blueprints and work instructions to produce accurate work product that meets quality standards, safety requirements and allotted run times while also meeting efficiency and productivity goals of the department
· Generate minimal waste and always maintain a clean and organized work area
· Other projects and duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Utility MDept Laborer will primarily work in a plant setting which is a smoke free environment that has typical factory hazards including noise, dust, cutting, drilling, finishing, solvents, lubricants, slipping and tripping hazards, blocked walkways, and hazards common to machining of parts such as sharp tools and objects, moving parts, metal shavings and slivers, unfinished surfaces, flames, sparks, cutting fluids, hydraulic oils and smoke. United Equipment Accessories, Inc. functions in a real market environment that changes at various times of the year, which occasionally may create high output or greater time pressure demands.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:
MACHINE DEPARTMENT -
Operate manual equipment (lathe and mill), utilize tooling correctly to prolong tool life and maintain quality
Change over machine as needed to complete parts following visual dispatch.
Verify specialized fixtures and jigs match traveler part number and revision levels
Suggest areas for improvement to reduce cycle times and improve quality
Install slip rings on Hydraulic combo units and support other tasks as needed
PAINT -
Prep substrate to accept industrial paint finish(Main Focus)
Operates wet spray equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metals and other products
Mixes paints and other solutions and monitors drying to ensure desired results.
Completes finishing with baking, polishing or other materials
Ensure proper ventilation during and after paint is applied

Follow rules and processes as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety and Quality Manuals as to conduct and performance standards expected of all employees

Review blueprints, work instructions, and the production schedule to achieve product specifications
Accurately record labor hours, indirect time, part quantities, and job notes using ShopTrak
Record attendance and time off requests utilizing Paylocity
Remain on task, work efficiently, produce work with minimal waste, and complete work according to budgeted labor hours
Proper usage of gages, hand tools and precision measurement tools to perform product validation and inspection to ensure quality conformity
Report internal and external mistakes or issues that negatively impact operations, product quality, or quantity to the supervisor or quality assurance in a timely manner
Seek opportunities to increase overall efficiency, reduce run times, and job costs
Perform regular monitoring and service checks on tools and equipment, immediately reporting malfunctions to the supervisor and maintenance
Maintain a tidy work area and clean equipment
Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance, communicate scheduled absences in advance and unscheduled absences as soon as possible
Follow through and communicate questions, project information and status to the appropriate people
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position and situation
Perform other duties as directed by Production Supervisor, Area Lead, or Operations Manager
Requirements:REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous knowledge of manual lathe and mill operation and welder setting/technique preferred.
EXPERIENCE - A minimum of six (6) months combined experience and education in manufacturing environment required.
SKILLS - Comprehensive problem-solving ability is necessary to operate equipment and trouble shoot errors. Must be able to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions and utilize precision measurement tools and gages. Professionalism and the ability to work well in a team or individual setting is required. Superior attention to detail and strong mechanical aptitude is crucial to produce quality work and operate necessary machinery and equipment.
PHYSICAL - Regularly required to stand or sit for long periods at a time, walk, bend, kneel, and talk. Use of hands and arms is necessary to reach, grab, and handle parts; as well as pushing and pulling motions to operate machine functions. Possess specific vision abilities including near vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus (with corrective lenses if necessary) to perform the requirements of the position. The ability to hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficiently to understand and comprehend work instructions and individual one-on-one conversations is also necessary. Unassisted lifting up to 50 lbs. is required.
MENTAL - Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently and possess basic math knowledge. The ability to communicate clearly on technical and business levels while maintaining
professional conduct is essential. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions and effectively work under time and budget constraints.
