Job Summary
The Lead Registered Nurse (Lead RN) supports the ASC Nurse Manager in overseeing daily clinical operations within the Ambulatory Surgery Center and Pain Management procedural areas. This role provides clinical leadership and direct patient care across pre-op, procedural, circulating, OR, and PACU functions while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
The Lead RN assists with staff coordination, patient flow, physician communication, scheduling adjustments, inventory oversight, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance. This position serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff, supports education and workflow improvement efforts, and helps ensure adherence to Center policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff under the direction of the ASC Nurse Manager
- Coordinate daily patient flow and clinical operations within the ASC and procedural areas
- Deliver direct patient care in pre-op, procedural, circulating, OR, and PACU settings as needed
- Ensure compliance with clinical policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols
- Assist with staff scheduling coordination, workflow adjustments, and physician communication
- Monitor supplies, equipment, and inventory to support efficient operations
- Support quality improvement, risk management, and regulatory compliance initiatives
- Serve as a resource for staff education, onboarding, and clinical guidance
- Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Promote professional communication and positive relationships with patients, physicians, and staff
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Florida RN license in good standing
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- E-Clinical Works (ECW) experience and prior knowledge HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred; ASC, OR, PACU, or pain management experience preferred
- Prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred
- Knowledge of pre-op, procedural, circulating, and PACU nursing practices
- Strong clinical, organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to respond effectively in urgent situations and support daily staff workflow
- Knowledge of OSHA, infection control, and patient safety standards
- Ability to meet the physical demands of patient care and work a flexible daytime schedule as needed
