Manager, Clinical Data Management

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Clinical Data Management based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead clinical data management operations supporting innovative research programs in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership to data management teams while ensuring high-quality clinical trial deliverables.
The position combines technical expertise, project oversight, client partnership, and people leadership within a collaborative research environment.
You will help shape data management standards, improve processes, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex clinical studies.

Accountabilities:

As a Manager, Clinical Data Management, you will oversee clinical data management programs, provide technical leadership, and ensure successful delivery of high-quality clinical trial data solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with senior leadership to manage clinical trial programs and projects across one or multiple client accounts.
  • Providing day-to-day technical and operational leadership to clinical data management project teams.
  • Serving as a lead data management expert for individual trials or clinical trial programs, guiding planning, execution, and delivery of data management activities.
  • Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted partner to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Leading data management teams, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing team members through regular feedback, performance discussions, and professional development support.
  • Managing resource planning, utilization tracking, project budgets, and operational reporting.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize clinical data management processes and support organizational objectives.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of clinical data management standards, procedures, and governance documentation.
  • Supporting the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, systems, and process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participating in recruitment activities, including interviewing and evaluating potential team members.
  • Supporting business development activities, including service estimates, proposal development, client presentations, and industry events when required.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and benchmarking efforts to maintain industry-leading data management practices.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced clinical data management leader with strong technical knowledge, project management capabilities, and the ability to lead teams and client relationships. Required qualifications and experience include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biological Science, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 11 years of relevant clinical data management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical data management systems, processes, and operations required to collect, store, validate, and process clinical trial data.
  • Demonstrated experience leading clinical data management teams and managing complex clinical research projects.
  • Ability to organize, integrate, and oversee clinical information processing activities effectively.
  • Strong understanding of data management best practices, including CRF design, database development, data processing, and quality control procedures.
  • Experience developing and implementing standards, procedures, and process improvements within clinical data operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to quality and compliance.
  • Experience contributing to system improvements, operational enhancements, and organizational growth initiatives.
