Job Description
The Recreation Facility Attendant supports the Rockdale County Parks and Recreation division and is responsible for providing customer service to visitors of the Recreation Center and other County parks and recreation facilities. Duties vary depending on the assigned facility and events. Work involves coordinating administrative procedures for making decisions on routine operating problems and working with administrative details. Employees in this classification perform a wide variety of clerical and administrative duties including answering, referring, and handling incoming telephone calls, taking messages, greeting the public, and being able to answer questions, assisting facility users, and ensuring a safe, enjoyable environment for patrons. Work is performed with considerable independence under general supervision.

Knowledge and understanding of County parks and recreation facilities and programs.
Interpret division regulations, policies, and procedures; make decisions involving independent judgment and requiring specialized knowledge of division practices, programs, and operations; analyze situations and make appropriate decisions without immediate supervision.
Provide internal and external customer service that meets or exceeds the service standards of the division.
Perform multiple clerical duties under the direction of the Recreation Operations Supervisor. Coordinate indoor and outdoor facility rentals via established rental processes.
Collects, opens, sorts, and distributes mail. Organizes and maintains office files and records.
Maintain updated information to disseminate to the public.
Responsible for working with funds, cash drawers, program registrations, daily reports, and financial drops.
Essential Functions (continued)Maintain an open line of communication with the public and staff related to events, programs, and policies and procedures of the division.
Ability to handle multiple interruptions and adjustments to prioritize throughout the day.
Work to resolve conflicts with patrons and staff as necessary.
Requires regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work well with others and work well as a team.
The ability to appear for work on time and effectively, efficiently, and safely perform job responsibilities in a timely manner to meet scheduled deadlines.
Perform other duties as required by the division.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of customer service practices and techniques. Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in both small and large groups, and in formal and informal settings.
Ability to understand and interpret divisional rules, regulations, procedures, and instructions both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact with the public and provide information in a polite and courteous manner, both in person and on the telephone.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Skilled in operating a computer and related Microsoft Software.
Working ConditionsWork is typically performed indoors at a park office or other County off-site facilities.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) months of experience in a general office environment.
- OR have a combination of education, training, and work experience that is equivalent to #1 and #2 above that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
