Job Description

Purpose of Position: This position is responsible for the day-to-day execution of materials operations, ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, movement, inventory control, and shipment of materials supporting manufacturing operations. This position maintains inventory accuracy, supports production through timely material availability, and serves as the warehouse's technical lead by promoting safe, organized, and efficient material handling practices while supporting continuous improvement throughout the materials function.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform and coordinate daily materials activities including receiving, stocking, picking, issuing, shipping, and inventory transactions.
  • Ensure materials are accurately received, identified, labeled, and stored in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through timely ERP transactions and inventory control practices.
  • Support production by ensuring production materials and kits are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventories while maintaining high inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure proper segregation and control of ITAR materials, customer-owned property, non-conforming material, and other controlled inventory.
  • Verify shipping documentation, packaging, and labeling for outbound customer shipments.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound material movement with internal departments and approved carriers.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to Materials personnel on shipping, receiving, inventory transactions, material handling, and standard work practices.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of warehouse procedures and standardized work instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse organization, inventory accuracy, material flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe materials area in accordance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Safely move materials throughout the facility using pallet jacks, carts, and other approved material handling equipment.
  • Investigate and assist in resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Support internal and external inventory audits.
  • Work closely with Planning, Procurement, Production, Engineering, and Quality to resolve material issues impacting production.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all inventory transactions and material movements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field, preferred.
  • Three years of warehouse, inventory control, shipping/receiving, or materials experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP systems for inventory transactions (NetSuite preferred).
  • Demonstrated understanding of inventory control principles, material handling practices, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe material handling practices.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience preferred.


Physical Demands of Position:

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds (materials/equipment)
  • Effective use of computer, laptop, cell phone and other mobile device to exchange information.
