Job Description

Treasury Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Treasury Manager based in Switzerland.

As a Treasury Manager, you will oversee day-to-day treasury and payment operations for a growing fintech business operating across cryptocurrency and traditional payment services. Reporting to the Head of Treasury, you will manage cash movements across multiple bank accounts, payment providers, exchanges, and digital wallets in different currencies and jurisdictions. You will take ownership of payment execution, liquidity management, and regular cash and crypto reporting for Finance leadership. You will also strengthen safeguarding and reconciliation processes to support regulatory requirements and upcoming e-money authorisations. Working closely with Finance, Accounting, Systems, and Engineering, you will improve operational efficiency while maintaining robust financial controls. This hands-on individual contributor role offers the opportunity to shape treasury processes in a fast-moving, regulated environment with direct access to decision-makers.

Accountabilities
  • Manage end-to-end payment operations

    • Oversee invoice and salary payment cycles, including validation, approval routing, foreign exchange, and payment release through banks and electronic money institutions.

    • Ensure beneficiary verification, dual authorisation, segregation of duties, and the four-eyes principle are consistently applied.

    • Investigate and resolve returned, delayed, or stuck payments across providers and jurisdictions.

  • Improve payment processes and controls

    • Work with Finance leadership and Accounting to redesign payment workflows, increase payment frequency, and strengthen invoice checks before release.

    • Establish backup approvers and maintain clear approval procedures to ensure continuity and control.

    • Develop and maintain treasury policies, authority matrices, standard operating procedures, and reliable documentation.

  • Own cash and crypto reporting

    • Consolidate balances across bank accounts, acquirers, payment service providers, exchanges, and custody accounts.

    • Prepare regular, reviewed cash flow reports and provide analysis of changes in cash and cryptocurrency positions.

    • Maintain accurate multi-currency reporting and reconciliation, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.

  • Maintain safeguarding and regulatory readiness

    • Perform daily safeguarding reconciliations for e-money entities once operational.

    • Ensure appropriate client-asset segregation and reconciliation in line with applicable MiCA and PSD2 requirements.

    • Prepare recurring regulatory returns for licensed entities and maintain supporting documentation for audits and regulatory requests.

  • Manage liquidity and settlement funding

    • Prepare short-term cash forecasts and ensure adequate liquidity across operational accounts.

    • Coordinate pre-funding, account sweeps, and settlement and trading account balances.

    • Monitor stablecoin liquidity and hot- and cold-wallet balances in accordance with internal policies.

  • Strengthen systems and operational efficiency

    • Collaborate with Finance Systems and Engineering to reduce spreadsheet-dependent reporting and reconciliation.

    • Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen operational controls.

    • Support the development of scalable treasury practices as the business expands its regulated activities.

Requirements:
  • Treasury and payment operations experience

    • 3–5 years of experience in treasury or payment operations, ideally within a fintech or cryptocurrency business.

    • Practical experience executing corporate payments, managing approval workflows, using banking portals, handling payment file formats, and maintaining segregation of duties.

    • Experience managing balances and reconciliations across multiple accounts and currencies, including investigating and resolving discrepancies.

    • Strong understanding of payment execution, settlement processes, liquidity management, and operational financial controls.

  • Cryptocurrency operations expertise

    • Hands-on experience with cryptocurrency exchange and custody accounts, stablecoin settlements, and hot- and cold-wallet operations.

    • Familiarity with on-chain transaction verification and network-specific considerations, including fees, transaction finality, memo or tag requirements, and stuck transactions.

    • Understanding of the operational risks involved in moving and safeguarding digital assets.

  • Regulatory and reporting knowledge

    • Experience working in a regulated environment, with exposure to regulatory reporting, safeguarding or client-money requirements, and audit or regulator requests.

    • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and the ability to produce accurate, consistent financial reports.

    • Exceptional attention to detail, precision under payment cut-off deadlines, and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.

    • Fluent English and availability within a time zone close to CET/EET.

  • Additional qualifications considered an advantage

    • Practical experience with PSD2 or electronic money institution safeguarding reconciliations, including UK safeguarding requirements.

    • Familiarity with MiCA or CASP crypto-asset segregation and reporting.

    • Experience redesigning payment or approval workflows in collaboration with Accounting.

    • Experience building cash flow reports, dashboards, or using SQL beyond a basic level.

    • Familiarity with Fireblocks or comparable custody and multi-party computation (MPC) platforms.

    • A treasury qualification such as ACT or CTP.

Benefits:
  • Full ownership of treasury operations within a regulated cryptocurrency and payments business.

  • The opportunity to shape payment processes, reporting, and financial controls rather than simply maintain existing workflows.

  • Remote working options or a hybrid setup at the company's European headquarters.

  • A flat organizational structure with fast decision-making and direct collaboration with leadership.

  • Full-time contract with a performance-based bonus.

  • Paid leave and health insurance.

  • A budget for professional certifications and continued development.

  • A structured recruitment process consisting of an HR interview, a joint interview with Treasury and Finance leadership, and reference checks.

  • A pre-employment background check following the offer, reflecting the role's access to company financial accounts.
