About the role
The Accounting Assistant is an entry-level, part-time position responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and administrative operations of the Accounting and Finance Team. This includes assisting with accounts payable/receivable, data entry, record keeping, and reporting, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and external requirements. This role offers the opportunity to grow into a full-time position within approximately six months.
What you'll do
- Reconcile Regional Center billing records against service delivery documentation, resolving discrepancies and maintaining audit-ready files
- Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports accurately and on schedule, verifying coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
- Review bi-weekly payroll journal entries in Rippling for accuracy prior to posting, partnering with HR and Payroll to resolve discrepancies
- Support month-end close by preparing monthly account reconciliations in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and assisting with financial reporting
- Track, reconcile, and replenish petty cash, maintaining accurate logs and receipts for audit purposes
- Act as a liaison between the Accounting and Finance Team and other departments regarding accounting administrative needs
- Help draft internal communications and financial summaries as requested
- Support interdepartmental coordination on finance-related tasks and special projects
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 1+ years of experience in a finance, accounting, or administrative support role preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
- Proficient in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) is a plus
