Job Description

Technology Portfolio Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technology Portfolio Manager based in the United States.

The Technology Portfolio Manager oversees the intake, assessment, prioritization, and monitoring of technology demand across a complex enterprise environment. This role ensures technology initiatives align with business strategy, available resources, and investment priorities. Working closely with business leaders and cross-functional technology teams, you will provide portfolio insights that support informed decision-making and effective resource allocation. You will analyze demand, capacity, financials, risks, and dependencies to help leadership balance competing priorities. The position offers an opportunity to improve portfolio transparency, strengthen planning practices, and influence strategic technology investments. This is a remote, individual-contributor role that relies on collaboration, analytical expertise, and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.

Accountabilities:

The Technology Portfolio Manager coordinates demand management and portfolio oversight activities, providing the analysis, reporting, and recommendations needed to support prioritization and investment decisions across business and technology functions.

  • Oversee technology demand intake, documentation, qualification, and assessment, translating business needs into clearly defined requests ready for evaluation.

  • Coordinate the demand lifecycle from initial intake through prioritization and approval, maintaining accurate status updates and documenting decisions.

  • Facilitate prioritization discussions and provide stakeholders with the information needed to assess competing requests and investment opportunities.

  • Maintain portfolio-level visibility into demand, approved initiatives, investments, resource requirements, risks, dependencies, and overall portfolio health.

  • Develop portfolio analyses, dashboards, reports, and executive summaries to support leadership planning and decision-making.

  • Collaborate with IT leaders to assess resource availability, capacity constraints, delivery impacts, and competing priorities.

  • Analyze portfolio demand against available capacity, identifying conflicts, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs that require leadership attention.

  • Support technology investment planning by tracking portfolio financials, funding requirements, planning assumptions, and investment priorities in partnership with Finance and IT leadership.

  • Coordinate with Technology Engagement Partners, the Project Management Office, Finance, Architecture, Security, Product, and Delivery teams to maintain accurate information and alignment across the portfolio.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve demand management processes, prioritization methods, reporting, tools, workflow efficiency, and stakeholder experience.

  • Influence investment, prioritization, and resource allocation decisions through evidence-based analysis and recommendations, without direct managerial authority.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines technology portfolio or demand management experience with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. They can navigate complex enterprise environments, evaluate competing business needs, and turn incomplete or complex information into actionable recommendations for leadership.

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Management, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience may also be considered.

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in demand management, portfolio management, business analysis, project portfolio management, IT planning, business relationship management, consulting, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience managing demand intake, prioritization, portfolio oversight, resource planning, or investment planning activities.

  • Experience working across multiple business functions and IT organizations within a complex enterprise environment.

  • Experience supporting executive decision-making through portfolio analysis, reporting, recommendations, and planning is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to evaluate business value, stakeholder impact, financial constraints, risks, dependencies, and resource implications.

  • Ability to balance short-term business needs with long-term organizational priorities and develop recommendations when information is incomplete.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, consultation, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to develop and present portfolio analyses, dashboards, investment considerations, prioritization options, and executive-level summaries.

  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority and build alignment among teams with competing priorities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, collaborate across time zones, and engage with geographically distributed teams.

  • Willingness to travel periodically for planning sessions, leadership meetings, portfolio reviews, and organizational events.

  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard business hours during critical planning cycles or leadership decision forums.

  • Valid authorization to work in the United States.

Benefits:

The compensation package combines competitive pay with health coverage, retirement savings, paid leave, educational support, and programs designed to support employees' overall well-being.

  • Salary: $105,000–$130,000 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, skills, and location.

  • Performance incentives: Opportunity to receive a discretionary annual performance-based bonus and other incentives.

  • Health coverage: Medical, dental, vision, and prescription plans, with Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options.

  • Voluntary insurance: Life, accident, critical illness, disability, legal, identity theft, and pet insurance options.

  • Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with company matching contributions and immediate vesting.

  • Paid time off: Vacation, holidays, personal days, sick leave, volunteer leave, and parental and caregiver leave.

  • Educational assistance: Tuition reimbursement for job-related courses after six months of service.

  • Well-being programs: Lifestyle Spending Account, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), virtual health management, chronic condition support, neurodiversity resources, tobacco cessation, substance abuse support, and life-stage and fertility resources.

  • Employee recognition: Access to an employee recognition and awards platform, with quarterly and annual recognition opportunities.

  • Remote work: Remote position offering flexibility to work with distributed teams in accordance with company policy.

  • Inclusive workplace: Commitment to fairness, equal opportunity, and a culture that values inclusion and belonging.
