Job Title: Supply Chain Manager - Carter Global Power

Location: Richmond, Virginia

Starting Compensation Range: $100,000 - $160,000 per year

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading the planning, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and mobilization of equipment supporting mobile and modular distributed power plants. These solutions leverage natural gas turbines and natural gas reciprocating engines and are deployed in both grid-interconnected and behind-the-meter applications serving data centers, utilities, oil & gas, and industrial customers.

The Supply Chain Manager manages the supply chain throughout the entire project lifecycle—from front-end planning and procurement through equipment mobilization, operations, maintenance, and fleet redeployment. The Supply Chain Manager works closely with Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Project Management, and OEM partners to ensure equipment, materials, and services are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

What You Will Do:

Strategic Procurement

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for power generation equipment, balance-of-plant systems, and project materials
  • Lead sourcing, supplier evaluation, contract negotiations, and purchase order management
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with OEMs, manufacturers, distributors, and key suppliers
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve lead times, and mitigate supply chain risk

Generation Equipment & Balance of Plant

  • Coordinate procurement of generation equipment, including natural gas turbines, reciprocating engines, transformers, switchgear, controls, fuel systems, cooling systems, emissions equipment, and other balance-of-plant components
  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop technical specifications and procurement packages
  • Track manufacturing schedules and supplier performance to support project delivery timelines

Inventory & Fleet Asset Management

  • Develop inventory strategies for fleet equipment, spare parts, consumables, and critical components

Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support commissioning, operations, and maintenance activities

  • Implement inventory controls and reporting to improve asset utilization and reduce carrying costs
  • Support lifecycle planning for company-owned power generation assets

Logistics & Mobilization

  • Plan and coordinate domestic transportation of generation equipment and balance-of-plant systems
  • Manage mobilization and demobilization logistics for temporary and permanent power projects
  • Coordinate staging yards, warehouses, and project delivery schedules
  • Ensure equipment arrives at project sites safely, on time, and in accordance with project requirements

Project Planning & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Engineering, Project Management, and Field Operations to align procurement activities with project schedules
  • Support project planning by identifying long-lead equipment and potential supply chain constraints
  • Participate in project reviews to ensure supply chain readiness throughout execution

Supplier Performance & Risk Management

  • Monitor supplier quality, delivery performance, and responsiveness
  • Develop contingency plans for critical equipment and materials
  • Support warranty management, supplier claims, and vendor performance improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and contractual requirements

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop standardized procurement processes, logistics procedures, and inventory management practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost performance across the supply chain
  • Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to enhance planning and reporting capabilities
  • Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum seven years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics within power generation, energy infrastructure, EPC, or heavy industrial industries
  • Experience procuring large capital equipment and engineered systems
  • Experience coordinating transportation and logistics for large or heavy equipment
  • Strong understanding of project-based procurement and long-lead equipment management
  • Excellent negotiation, planning, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in supply change management
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement supply chain strategies that support business objectives
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent driving record
  • Willingness to travel and work hours required for job and customer demand
  • Frequent travel is required – overnight or out town via car or airplane

Physical Requirements: 

  • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear
