Academics Manager
Primary Location: USMC MAGTF Integrated Systems Training Center (MISTC) – Site TBD
Clearance: Secret (Top Secret/SCI may be required)

Job Summary
The Academics Manager serves as the Academic Officer’s representative at their assigned MISTC site and is responsible for managing all academic training schedules, Programs of Instruction (POIs), and instructor development processes. This position ensures the effective planning, coordination, and execution of training events and academic courses in accordance with all applicable Marine Corps orders, directives, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Academics Manager oversees instructor certification progression, coordinates with the Site Director to align training resources with mission requirements, and provides academic oversight to guarantee quality instruction across classroom, field, and exercise environments.
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage the scheduling, coordination, and execution of all academic courses and events directed by the MISTC Site Director.
- Ensure all Programs of Instruction (POIs) are executed in compliance with Marine Corps Training and Education Command (TECOM) directives, orders, and SOPs.
- Act as the primary academic representative for the Academic Officer at the assigned MISTC site.
- Oversee the Instructor Certification Process, monitoring instructor progression and ensuring compliance with TECOM standards.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to instructors throughout their certification and qualification process.
- Coordinate with instructors and site leadership to ensure training resources, classrooms, and facilities are properly managed to support training objectives.
- Track, document, and report academic performance metrics to the Academic Officer and Site Director.
- Support curriculum reviews, POI updates, and training refinements based on after-action reviews (AARs) and feedback.
- Ensure training events are aligned with USMC MAGTF mission readiness requirements and meet established academic standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Leadership, Military Studies, or related field preferred. Equivalent military academic training or instructional management experience may substitute for degree requirements.
- Prior experience in academic management, training administration, or instructional leadership in a military or higher-education environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Marine Corps training directives, POI management, and curriculum execution.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or evaluating instructors in a structured certification program.
- Familiarity with USMC MAGTF operations, Combat Operations Center training, and TECOM training standards highly desirable.
- Certifications Required: Marine Corps Instructor Certification or equivalent DoD instructor qualification. Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP), Instructional Systems Design (ISD) or ADDIE methodology certification, Master Training Specialist (MTS) or equivalent advanced instructor qualification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Marines, government civilians, and contractors.
- Willingness to support field training schedules, extended duty hours, and occasional travel as mission requires.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Garrison work environment including routine field/tactical training environments.
- Occasional extended working hours will be required to support training schedules.
- Schedule: M-F normal business hours; flexibility required based on training and exercise timelines.
Travel
- Occasional travel to other MISTC sites and MOCTT Quantico as required.
- Domestic travel up to 15%; OCONUS travel possible based on program requirements.
