Overview
The Global Strategic Supply Manager is responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies for critical and strategic categories across the Goulds engineered pumps portfolio, mainly focus on Fabrication, machining and non-metallic. This role drives cost competitiveness, supplier performance, and supply continuity by optimizing the global supply base, including transitioning work to Low-Cost Region (LCR) suppliers where appropriate.
The position focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and long-term supplier partnership development to support business growth, margin expansion, and operational excellence.
This role partners closely with Global Supply Chain, Goulds Engineering, Goulds Operations, Product Management and Supplier excellence & development team to ensure sourcing decisions align with product requirements, manufacturing strategy, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
The role has global responsibility for strategic sourcing initiatives across key engineered pump components including machining, fabrications, and non-metallic.
Key scope includes:
Driving cost reduction through resourcing, LCR transitions, and supplier consolidation
Leading strategic sourcing activities impacting product cost, quality, and delivery performance
Reducing supply risk and improving resilience across Goulds global supply base
Supporting special projects, New Product Introduction (NPI) and product lifecycle sourcing strategies
This position serves as a key interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders, influencing sourcing strategy, cost structure, and supply continuity.
- Define and execute global category and sourcing strategies aligned with Goulds business goals on assigned categories
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities: RFQ, supplier evaluation & selection, negotiation, and contracting
- Identify and execute resourcing opportunities, including transitions to LCR suppliers (e.g., India, LA or other developing countries in Asia)
- Deliver measurable cost savings through competitive sourcing, should-cost analysis, and value engineering
- Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure long-term performance and innovation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, and Operations to ensure technical and operational alignment
- Support supplier qualification and onboarding in partnership with Supplier Excellence and Development team
- Support supplier performance improvements related to SQDC
- Mitigate supply risk through dual sourcing, capacity planning, and geographic diversification
- Enable successful NPI sourcing and ensure early supplier involvement in design and development
- Leverage data analytics and market intelligence to guide sourcing decisions and strategy
- Lead contract negotiations, including pricing, terms, and risk mitigation clauses
- Support make vs. buy analysis and footprint optimization initiatives
- Act as SWAT team to support operations on strategic supplier issues impacting business continuity
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field required
Preferred:
MBA or advanced degree
Professional certifications (CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent)
EXPERIENCE:
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain within industrial or engineered products
- Proven track record in global sourcing and supplier negotiation
- Experience with LCR sourcing and supplier transitions (India strongly preferred)
- Strong exposure to engineered components (machining, fabrications, non-metallic)
- Demonstrated success delivering cost savings and supply base optimization
- Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management
- Experience in NPI sourcing and change management processes
OTHER SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills
- Solid financial acumen (cost breakdowns, should-costing, total cost of ownership)
- Excellent understanding of global supply markets and cost drivers
- Ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders globally
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and technical drawings
- Effective communication and stakeholder management
- Experience managing supplier risk and geopolitical considerations
- High attention to detail with strong execution discipline
