Title and Name of Supervisor: Sariel Ende-Alonzo, J-Family Ambassador Program Manager
Why this role matters:
Our J-Family Ambassadors (JFAs) build authentic relationships, create new, barrier-free Jewish experiences, expand communities, and share relevant Jewish content with families raising Jewish children under the age of 6. JFAs support the Ambassador program through regular correspondence with their constituency, face-to-face gatherings, small-scale outreach, and community events. As a JFA, you will help new parents meet and connect with other Jewish families in Northern Virginia and access relevant and meaningful experiences.
Our JFAs also work in coordination with and support of the Growing Jewish Families program and the broader Community Impact and Engagement department. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with our community and have a significant impact on the experience of families across Northern Virginia.
This is a part-time position, up to 20 hours per week.
Core Responsibilities:
- Work in person at the Pozez JCC a minimum of 2 to 3 hours per week for programming, training, and collaboration.
- Contact new families with children under the age of six to explain program goals and assess their interests and needs.
- Meet informally with new parents over coffee to build relationships, share information on available programs and resources, and deliver J-Baby bags to new families.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate regular events throughout the Great Falls to Ashburn corridor at family-friendly venues, in-home settings, or at the Pozez JCC.
- Coordinate and lead approximately two to three programs per month, including weekend events, especially on Sundays.
- Manage logistics, marketing, and development of events with JCC staff support.
- Build and strengthen relationships with constituents through ongoing communication.
- Develop and cultivate new marketing opportunities to expand participation in JFA programs.
- Contribute social media content, promote family events on social media, and participate in online conversations with topics of interest to new parents.
- Serve as a concierge to cross-promote local Jewish community programs and partner organization offerings.
- Maintain accurate records and complete various brief surveys to provide snapshots of how local families are engaging in the Jewish community.
- Participate in regular trainings and conference calls to learn and share best practices with other Ambassadors.
- Ongoing monitoring of social media sites to learn what is already being offered for parents with young children locally, sharing observations at meetings and training sessions.
- Collaborate with all Pozez JCC staff and build a collaborative team environment within Growing Jewish Families and other JCC departments.
- Cover programs for other JFAs as needed.
- Attend PJ Library meetings and other general meetings as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned.
