Job Summary:
The Assembly Lead supports daily production operations by leading and coordinating a team of Assembly Operators while actively participating in hands-on assembly work. This role ensures safety, quality, and productivity standards are met by providing work direction, training support, and real-time problem-solving on the production floor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead by example by following all safety procedures and ensuring team compliance with required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety standards.
- Perform assembly, inspection, and material handling duties in accordance with work instructions, quality standards, and production requirements.
- Coordinate daily work assignments, monitor workflow, and support one-piece flow to meet production targets.
- Verify components, labels, and materials against work orders; ensure accurate documentation and number recorded by the team.
- Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and support to Assembly Operators, including new hires and cross-trained team members.
- Operate and support the use of hand tools, power tools, and production equipment including torque tools, drills, leak test equipment, and scales.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance checks and basic equipment setup or calibration to approved reference samples.
- Communicate production issues, safety concerns, equipment problems, and staffing needs to the Production Supervisor.
- Assist with material staging, kitting, packaging, and movement of components and finished goods.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to standard work procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production and operational objectives.
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Previous manufacturing or assembly experience required.
- Prior experience acting as a lead, trainer, or senior operator in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements for assembly and inspection tasks.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle, assemble, and operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to bend, reach, grip, and perform fine motor tasks as required for assembly operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and finished products, typically up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to visually inspect components and read work instructions, labels, and documentation.
