Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Network Engineer based in the United States.
This role plays a critical part in securing, modernizing, and maintaining a large-scale enterprise Cisco network environment supporting mission-critical operations. You will be responsible for designing and implementing resilient network architectures built on Zero Trust principles, ensuring secure connectivity across core, distribution, and edge infrastructure. The position requires a strong focus on network security, compliance, and operational reliability within a highly regulated environment aligned with federal standards. You will contribute directly to strengthening incident response capabilities by identifying vulnerabilities, supporting remediation efforts, and improving overall network posture. Working closely with cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure teams, you will help ensure seamless integration and secure data flow across systems. This is a hands-on engineering role where your expertise directly enhances network stability, performance, and security at scale.
- Provide engineering and operational support for enterprise Cisco network infrastructure across core, distribution, access, and edge layers.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures aligned with Zero Trust principles, including segmentation, micro-segmentation, and least-privilege access controls.
- Configure and manage network services such as VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing, switching, and 802.1X access controls.
- Implement and enforce network security controls aligned with NIST 800-53, NIST 800-207, and federal compliance frameworks.
- Perform continuous monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and risk remediation in alignment with NIST RMF requirements.
- Harden and maintain network devices using secure configuration baselines, patching procedures, and firmware updates.
- Support incident response activities including log analysis, forensic data collection, containment actions, and root cause analysis.
- Manage centralized logging and SIEM integration to ensure full visibility and audit readiness.
- Ensure all network changes follow formal change management processes with proper documentation and security impact analysis.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, SOPs, and configuration documentation to support operational and compliance needs.
- Collaborate with service desk, cloud, Microsoft, and cybersecurity teams to support integrated enterprise operations.
- 5–6+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering with strong Cisco infrastructure expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Active and current network or cybersecurity certifications maintained for at least 5 years (required).
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN environments, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and enterprise networking protocols.
- Hands-on experience with 802.1X, network segmentation, and identity-based access control.
- Solid understanding of federal security frameworks including NIST 800-53, NIST 800-207, and RMF practices.
- Experience with network monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management in 24/7 environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work in highly regulated, compliance-driven environments with strict documentation requirements.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and able to pass Tier 2 Public Trust and FBI background checks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and federal contracting standards.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Opportunity to work on mission-critical, large-scale enterprise network environments.
- Exposure to advanced cybersecurity frameworks and Zero Trust architecture implementations.
- Professional growth within a highly certified, process-driven engineering organization.
- Stable long-term role within a federal contracting environment.
- Collaborative work culture with cross-functional engineering and security teams.
