This senior leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing U.S. market access strategy for a rare disease metabolic therapy across its late-stage development and commercialization journey.
The role plays a pivotal part in ensuring optimal payer access, reimbursement readiness, and long-term commercial success for a high-impact specialty product.
It requires close collaboration across Commercial, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Finance, Legal, and Government Affairs to build strong, evidence-based value narratives.
The position leads launch readiness efforts, including pricing strategy, contracting frameworks, and payer engagement planning.
It also oversees the development of key payer-facing tools such as AMCP dossiers, value propositions, and economic communications.
This is a highly strategic, cross-functional role operating at the intersection of science, access, and commercialization within a fast-paced rare disease environment.
Following launch, the leader continues to optimize access strategy and support sustained brand growth in the U.S. and select global markets.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead U.S. market access strategy development and execution across payer segments, including commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and integrated delivery systems, ensuring optimal access and reimbursement outcomes.
  • Drive launch readiness and commercialization planning, including pricing, contracting strategy, distribution models, and payer engagement frameworks for a rare disease therapy.
  • Develop and oversee payer-focused value communication tools such as AMCP dossiers, value dossiers, economic models, and payer presentations aligned with brand strategy.
  • Define pricing and contracting strategies, including gross-to-net modeling, scenario planning, and evaluation of market and competitive dynamics in partnership with Finance and Commercial teams.
  • Partner with HEOR and Medical Affairs to guide evidence generation, including real-world evidence, post-hoc analyses, and economic modeling to support payer decision-making.
  • Lead payer insights and market intelligence activities, integrating policy trends, reimbursement changes, and competitor strategies into lifecycle planning and forecasting.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership across Market Access, Commercial, Medical, Legal, and Government Affairs teams to ensure alignment and execution of access strategies.
  • Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for market access initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory and promotional standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, or related field) preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in market access, HEOR, payer strategy, commercial analytics, or related pharmaceutical/biotech functions.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing teams or large-scale strategic initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in U.S. payer systems, reimbursement dynamics, pricing, contracting, and specialty pharmacy channels.
  • Proven experience in rare disease, specialty, biologics, or orphan drug market access environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading product launch strategy and commercialization planning in complex therapeutic areas.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking skills, including gross-to-net, P&L drivers, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and executive influence skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear value narratives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment with strong project leadership capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30% and engage in periodic onsite collaboration.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range: $219,000 – $285,000, plus short-term and long-term incentive compensation (bonus and equity).
  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • Retirement savings plans with employer match.
  • Generous paid time off and flexible work-life balance support.
  • Wellness programs and employee assistance resources.
  • Financial and family support benefits designed to support long-term well-being.
  • Opportunity to work in a mission-driven environment focused on rare disease innovation and patient impact.
