As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Critical Facility Manager to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights.
The Critical Facility Manager is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operate at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues.
The Critical Facility Manager serves as an expert technical resource reporting to the Regional Director and interacting with onsite Critical Facility Engineers (CFEs) and any third-party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commands acritical Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert (SME) presence. Regularly displays command and control of the critical facility operations.
- Fully embrace Salute’s Critical Facility Program Methodology (“The ”) and the self-performance philosophy.
- Continually demonstrates leadership leading Data Center Engineers, Data Center Technicians, and suppliers in achieving a Culture of Excellence.
- Continually leads by example and actively participates in on-going professional development and promotes the same level of engagement among the Data Center Operations Team.
- Provides direct, on-site, coordination, supervision, and project management support for critical facility operations of a data center environment.
- Accepts direct accountability for the management and operations, preventative maintenance implementation, and, and cycle management of critical assets associated with a data center environment.
- Implements Salute Data Center Operations and secures 100%site adoption by all Data Center Technicians, and suppliers.
- Tracks Critical Facility metrics and KPI’s and delivers to Site Director. Anomalies or discrepancies are reported to the Site Director immediately upon determination.
- Manages preventative maintenance schedules, corrective maintenance actions, and break-fix incident response for all critical facility related systems.
- Identifies critical spare parts inventory needs and track son-hand supply and usage deployment using the CMMS Platform.
- Participates in regular updates and an annual refresh of Playbook standard processes and best practices.
- Coordinates suppliers when required and ensures compliance with the Salute Data Center Operations Playbook to ensure proper alignment with Salute approved process and industry best-practices when providing, preventative, corrective, or emergency maintenance services at a client’s critical facility.
- Accountable for operating and protecting the client’s/tenant ’critical load, delivering 100%uptime while also delivering 100%client satisfaction.
- Responsible for creating Method of Procedure’s (’s), Standard Operating Procedure’s (’s), and Emergency Operating Procedure’s (’s)and maintaining those in their most current state in the Critical Works™(CMMS) Platform.
- Creates, publishes, maintains, Critical Facility Work Rules and refreshes annually; while ensuring that Data Center Engineers, Technicians, and Suppliers fully comply with the Critical Facility Work Rules.
- Directly accountable for ensuring safety compliance of all processes, systems, preventative measures, and adherence by site personnel and suppliers to Salute Environmental Health and Safety Policies.
- Develops and implements an equipment Life Cycle Replacement Strategy using the CMMS Platform.
- Takes responsibility for(on-site) vendor management and performance standards. Takes Responsibility for ensuring vendors adhere to The Playbook, Critical Facility Work Rules, and all EH&S Policies associated with the site.
Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Estimate cost of client installations
- Analyze and interpret complex project documents such as AutoCAD and Visio
- Analyze and propose solutions with limited information
- Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively respond to sensitive and complex issues
- The ability to create effective presentations and communicate with both internal and external customers
- A demonstrated commitment to customer service for both coworkers and customers
- Experience developing operating and maintenance standards and project tracking/management documents
- Knowledge of applicable laws and ordinances in performing data, communications, and MEP projects
- The skill to provide oversight to team members for guidance and coaching
- Experience working well under pressure with a proactive approach
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to accept new ideas and procedures
- Experience using Microsoft office tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to create presentations and reports
- Enhance existing skill sets
- Direct operations, technical and engineering personnel to ensure established processes and procedures are followed
- Perform, or oversee and manage the periodic audits of maintenance MOPs, equipment SOPs and Emergency Operator Procedures (EOPs) to ensure quality, accuracy, and conformance with company standards and industry best practice
- Perform periodic audits of site Change Management activity, to ensure accuracy of information and quality of supporting documentation
- Collect and report operating metrics for sites to track and monitor site performance and efficiency
- Coordinate major activities among sites and track major outstanding issues to resolution
- Provide input for and drive the development of client improvement solutions to include accurate descriptions, savings potential, and cost estimates
- Develop operating standards, processes, and procedures, rules, and regulations
- Review drawings and perform site surveys to identify mechanical, electrical, and control systems and facility operational characteristics
- Manage relationships with customer, property management and internal teams and external stakeholders, where applicable and required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 5+ years of directly related experience in the operation, installation, and maintenance of data center critical equipment, building systems with in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two+ years’ experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units and CRAC units.
- Good observation skills and problem-solving ability.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure
The base salary range for this role reflects a good‑faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
