Senior Product Manager - API

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager - API based in the United States.

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager - API to lead the strategy, development, and growth of API-driven solutions within a fast-growing SaaS environment.
This role offers the opportunity to shape a critical product area by defining API vision, improving developer experiences, and expanding integration capabilities.
You will work closely with engineering, design, sales, marketing, and partnerships teams to deliver impactful solutions aligned with customer needs and business objectives.
The ideal candidate will combine strong product leadership with technical expertise, customer empathy, and a deep understanding of API ecosystems.
You will play a key role in transforming complex customer challenges into scalable products that drive adoption and long-term value.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Product Manager - API will own the product vision, roadmap, and execution strategy for API capabilities while ensuring alignment between customer needs, business goals, and technical priorities. This role requires strong ownership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable solutions and measurable business outcomes.

  • Lead strategic product initiatives from discovery through launch, ensuring alignment with company objectives, market opportunities, and customer expectations.
  • Define and execute the API product strategy, including roadmap planning, developer experience improvements, API lifecycle management, documentation, versioning, and partner enablement.
  • Drive API adoption and ecosystem growth by identifying integration opportunities, supporting partner relationships, and collaborating with sales and business teams.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer workflows, especially within the target industry, to identify opportunities for innovation and product improvements.
  • Lead AI-focused product initiatives by exploring generative AI and machine learning solutions that help customers improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Conduct user research, concept validation, and usability testing to continuously improve product experiences.
  • Partner with engineering, design, product marketing, sales, and customer teams to align product strategy, go-to-market plans, pricing, packaging, and execution priorities.
  • Build and communicate product vision while translating strategic goals into actionable roadmaps and deliverables.
  • Define success metrics, measure business impact, and use analytics insights to guide product decisions and optimization efforts.
  • Enable internal teams by providing product knowledge, training, and resources to support adoption and customer success.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced product leader with a strong background in SaaS products, API ecosystems, and customer-focused product development. You should be comfortable balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution while influencing teams across a complex organization.

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably within enterprise SaaS or technology-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and launching API products, including API strategy, contracts, developer audiences, lifecycle management, documentation, and onboarding processes.
  • Experience delivering generative AI or machine learning products from concept to market.
  • Strong understanding of product analytics tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, FullStory, Heap, or Pendo.
  • Proven ability to develop business cases, validate hypotheses, prioritize opportunities, and scale products successfully.
  • Strong customer-focused mindset with experience translating user needs into impactful product solutions.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to technical teams, business stakeholders, and executives.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in an evolving environment.
  • Experience working with developer communities, integrations, partnerships, or platform ecosystems is highly valued.
