Role Overview
The Product Specialist is a high-potential role within the Marketing and Product Line Management team designed for someone who is motivated, ambitious, curious, and eager to build a long-term career in the concrete, admixture, construction materials, and technical products industry.
This position may be a strong fit for a recent college graduate with the ability and drive to learn a technical industry, or for an experienced technician, lab professional, field support specialist, or industry employee with hands-on concrete, admixture, testing, technical service, or construction materials experience. Prior product management experience is not required. What is required is strong follow-through, responsiveness, ownership, professional maturity, and the desire to grow into broader product line responsibility over time.
The successful candidate will support assigned product lines across the Product Line Management group, including but not limited to admixtures, fibers, specialty products, or other concrete-related technologies. This role will work closely with sales, technical service, R&D, supply chain, operations, finance, marketing, and customers to support product line execution, data analysis, training, launches, and business improvement initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Pricing Strategy and Analysis: Support pricing analysis by collecting, organizing, and reviewing product, customer, cost, and market information. Assist with margin analysis, price list maintenance, product/customer reviews, and pricing recommendations. Help identify pricing inconsistencies, margin improvement opportunities, and areas where stronger data can support better business decisions.
Product Line Strategy and Growth Plans: Support the development and execution of product line strategies by gathering market information, customer feedback, competitive intelligence, sales input, product data, and technical information. Assist in developing product positioning, value propositions, market summaries, growth plans, and business updates for assigned product categories. Learn how product lines are managed as businesses and contribute to action plans that support growth and profitability.
New Product Development: Support new product development projects by helping gather customer needs, organize project information, coordinate cross-functional input, track action items, and prepare business case materials. Work with R&D, technical service, sales, operations, supply chain, and finance to understand product performance requirements, commercialization needs, and launch readiness. Help ensure project follow-up items are documented and advanced.
Product Launch: Assist with product launch planning and execution, including sales tools, product information, training materials, launch checklists, customer-facing resources, internal communications, and post-launch follow-up. Help ensure sales and technical teams have clear and practical information needed to position and support products effectively.
Sales and Marketing Communications: Work with marketing communications, sales, and technical teams to help create product literature, presentations, competitive comparisons, training materials, technical-commercial summaries, and customer support resources. Assist with updates to existing materials and ensure product information is accurate, current, and easy for the sales organization to use.
Partnerships and Value-Added Programs: Support value-added programs, customer initiatives, and product-related partnerships by organizing information, coordinating internal stakeholders, tracking program activity, and preparing customer or sales-facing materials. Learn how product programs create differentiation and value in the market.
Sales Development and Sales Training: Support sales development by preparing product training materials, customer presentations, product comparisons, and technical-commercial support tools. Participate in training sessions, customer discussions, field visits, and internal meetings to build product knowledge and better understand customer needs. Respond to requests with urgency and propose realistic next steps when additional work or input is needed.
Supply Chain Linkages: Assist with supply chain coordination by helping monitor product availability, demand trends, inventory concerns, product rationalization opportunities, and operational issues. Support communication between product management, supply chain, operations, and sales to help ensure customer needs and business priorities are understood.
Product Line Management Operating Expectations: This role is expected to operate according to the Product Line Management team’s baseline standards. Calls and emails should be acknowledged within 24 hours with appropriate receipt and follow-up communication. Meeting requests should be owned by proposing a realistic next step when immediate resolution is not possible. The role requires professional availability, consistent engagement, sound judgment, and clear prioritization of customers, revenue, and critical business decisions. Colleagues should be confident that Product Management will close the loop, deliver on commitments, raise blockers early, and stay ahead of issues rather than waiting for escalation.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Chemistry, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.
Recent college graduates with strong motivation, communication skills, analytical ability, technical curiosity, and interest in product line management will be considered.
In lieu of a degree, 4–7 years of relevant hands-on experience in concrete, admixtures, construction materials, laboratory testing, technical service, quality control, field support, or a related technical environment will be considered.
Experience working in or with concrete, technical laboratories, field service role, sales supporting role, construction materials company, or admixture-related environment is a plus.
Prior product management experience is not required.
Experience with concrete technology, admixtures, fibers, mix design, testing, field troubleshooting, or construction materials is strongly preferred.
Skills and Knowledge

Responsive and dependable, with the ability to acknowledge requests promptly and close the loop on commitments.
Solid analytical skills with the ability to work with data, identify trends, ask good questions, and support recommendations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with sales, technical service, operations, supply chain, finance, marketing, leadership, and customers.
Ability to learn technical product information and translate it into practical customer and sales value.
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and follow-up items.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Customer-focused mindset with interest in understanding market needs, field challenges, product performance, and commercial value.
Proactive approach to identifying issues, asking for clarification, raising blockers, and moving work forward.
Strong technical curiosity and willingness to build deep knowledge of concrete, admixtures, fibers, and related product applications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
Experience with SAP, Salesforce, Power BI, or other data analysis tools is a plus.
Hands-on knowledge of concrete testing, admixture performance, mix design, field troubleshooting, or construction materials is a plus.
