FACILITIES ATTENDANT (PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT)- FULL TIMEHIRING RANGE: $48,745-$62,000
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Facilities Attendant to support the daily operation of our community center and other Town facilities. In this role, you’ll ensure that our buildings are clean, safe, well-maintained, and ready to welcome residents of all ages for programs, classes, meetings, and special events. This position plays a key part in creating a positive experience for everyone who visits our facilities.
The Facilities Attendant plays a key role in the Department of Parks & Recreation by creating clean, safe, and welcoming environments across Town buildings and surrounding grounds. This position supports daily operations by maintaining facilities, preparing spaces for programs and events, and assisting staff, contractors, and patrons with professionalism and care.
The majority of this position's time is dedicated to maintaining clean, sanitary, and welcoming Town facilities through routine custodial care. In addition to custodial responsibilities, the Facilities Attendant prepares facilities for programs and events, performs light maintenance, and supports daily facility operations to the highest standard.
Guided by the department’s values, the Facilities Attendant delivers exceptional service, takes pride in maintaining well-kept spaces, and contributes to environments that promote community health and wellbeing. The role is primarily custodial in nature and also includes maintenance, event support, and other operational duties performed with a commitment to sustainability, inclusivity and continuous improvement.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 with occasional nights or weekends to support special events.
All new employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. A conditional offer of employment may then be made contingent upon the successful completion of a physical and drug test.
This is a Non-Exempt Position.
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Essential Functions:
Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains Town buildings and adjacent grounds, including offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, kitchens, restrooms, and common areas by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, and replenishing supplies.
Cleans, disinfects, and restocks public and staff restrooms in facilities to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
Opens and closes facilities according to schedule; ensures rooms and equipment are properly set up for daily programs, classes, and special events.
Sets up, breaks down and moves tables, chairs and other equipment for classes and events.
Maintains security of building at all times; secures doors and windows before or after business hours.
Interacts courteously and professionally with staff, contractors, and the public.
Works independently under general supervision to complete assigned custodial, facility setup, and light maintenance tasks while maintaining Town standards for cleanliness, safety, and customer service.
Monitors inventory and restocks janitorial and maintenance supplies.
Installs new equipment and fixtures; assists with repair of equipment and building fixtures.
Assists with inspection of facilities.
Prepares and processes various records and reports.
Operates various equipment including floor cleaners, floor varnisher, leaf blower, drills, vertical lift, vacuum cleaner.
Assists parks crew with trash pick-up and emptying outdoor trash receptacles around the building.
Provides event support, including setup and post-event cleanup, including mandatory events throughout the year.
Meets with vendors or contractors in the absence of supervisory staff.
Maintains the Bowman House Arts and Crafts Center and other assigned facilities asdirected.
Performs housekeeping duties such as dusting, cleaning, disinfecting, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, replacing and replenishing supplies, washing walls and windows, and cleaning restrooms.
Additional Duties:
Picks up litter in and around Town facilities.
Provides backup support to other facility staff as needed.
Performs related work as assigned.
