Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Required:

• Be actively engaged in and support a safety focused work environment by upholding the company’s safety guidelines and environmental policies.

• Lead and manage the daily activities of production supervisors, team leaders, and operators to ensure efficient, high-quality, and safe manufacturing operations. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and team development.

• Championing continuous improvement of production processes through application of 5S and LEAN manufacturing practices.

• Participate in incident investigations and assist in development and initiation of corrective and preventive actions.

• Maintain a clean, safe work environment while holding the team accountable to safety and housekeeping standards.

• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) for new and existing processes.

• Ensure compliance with all environmental rules, laws, and regulations.

• Ensure proper identification of, labeling and handling of generated waste.

• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering and Planning teams to optimize first-pass yield and achieve zero-defect production.

• Ensure compliance with the current ISO9001 standards.

• Review applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on a regular frequency.

• Fully documenting operating data, activities and events on appropriate forms and records

• Execute daily production plan by establishing priorities, assigning personnel, monitoring progress, resolving problems, and reporting progress on shift production summaries.

• Be knowledgeable and assist, as necessary, in all production processes and areas.

• Work closely with the maintenance department to coordinate repairs and minimize production downtime.

• Lead hiring, onboarding, and promotion of production staff.

• Provide and keep current training and certification of all employees in all production areas.

• Conduct annual performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.

• Interact professionally with production personnel and all other departments.

• Communicate professionally and effectively with vendors and customers, when needed.

• Work to maximize yields and improve cycle times.

• Be available afterhours for plant assistance by phone or in plant.

• Ensure effective shift resource utilization and drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

Required:

• BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

• 5+ years chemical manufacturing experience with supervision

• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities

• Strong knowledge of organizational workflow and ability to delegate by assigning responsibilities.

• Advanced organizational skills and a proficient multi-tasker

• Knowledge of all essential equipment and ability to troubleshoot issues.

• Data driven with the ability to generate and submit reports on performance and progress.

• Proficiency with computers and computer software, such as with Microsoft Office and RMP systems

• Strong coaching and training skills to onboard new employees and train employees on all tasks

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong work ethic, self-motivated and results-driven

• Ability to effectively read, write, and verbally communicate in English.

Preferred:

• Experience in a PSM manufacturing environment

• Experience with PLC and/or DCS controls

• Direct knowledge of batch chemical manufacturing processes

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S
