The position focuses on guiding publication planning and scientific content development across a broad range of medical communication deliverables, including manuscripts, congress materials, and strategic scientific platforms. Working in a highly collaborative and flexible remote environment, you will partner with cross-functional experts to deliver scientifically rigorous, evidence-based content that supports brand and clinical objectives. This role combines strategic oversight, scientific expertise, and team leadership, making it ideal for an experienced medical publications professional passionate about advancing oncology research communication. You will also play a key role in mentoring scientific teams while contributing to the growth of high-quality client partnerships and scientific excellence.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the strategic planning, development, and oversight of oncology-focused scientific publications and medical communication initiatives across assigned accounts.
  • Provide expert scientific guidance and strategic recommendations aligned with publication goals, clinical data, and brand objectives.
  • Oversee the creation and review of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, podium presentations, scientific platforms, and publication extenders.
  • Collaborate with internal scientific teams, freelance contributors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely deliverables.
  • Supervise and mentor Associate Scientific Directors and other scientific staff, supporting professional development and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with industry publication standards, ethical guidelines, and editorial best practices, including AMA, ICMJE, and GPP2022 standards.
  • Conduct scientific data analysis, literature reviews, reference annotation, and quality control activities to maintain scientific integrity across all projects.
Requirements:
  • Advanced scientific or medical degree required (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent).
  • 7+ years of experience in medical communications and scientific publications within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry.
  • Strong expertise in oncology publications, including experience with hematology/oncology and solid tumors preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing scientific content such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and congress presentations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of medical editorial standards and ethical publication guidelines, including AMA style, ICMJE, and GPP2022.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration abilities, including experience mentoring scientific teams and working independently in remote environments.
  • CMPP certification is considered a strong advantage.
