Salary Range: $230,557.32 To $345,835.98 Annually
Summary: Oversees and leads the Middle Market and Commercial & Industrial lending function in the assigned region for Columbia Bank. Ensures sales goals and objectives of the department are met. Reviews credit worthiness with commercial lenders. Negotiates with customers and assists with loan structures. Participates in networking activities and is responsible for new business development. Oversees the department’s personnel objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight
- Oversees and leads the Middle Market and Commercial & Industrial Lending function within a designated region for the Bank.
- Oversees all workflow to ensure sales goals and objectives set for the department are met.
- Resolves complex problems related to the portfolio.
- Reviews credit worthiness and preliminary evaluations with commercial lenders. Negotiates loan terms with customers and assists with the loan structure.
- Ensures sound credit decisions are made.
- Approves loans within lending authority or submits to lending committee for approval.
Team Leadership and Development
- Exercises the usual authority of a manager concerning supervision, performance evaluations, guidance and salary recommendations.
- Trains and develops commercial lenders.
- Meets hiring objectives for the Middle Market and C&I department in the assigned region.
Compliance and Policy Oversight
- Maintains a current knowledge of state and federal regulations relevant to the commercial lending industry.
- Manages department within assigned objectives, policies and practices and implements approved changes.
- Ensures departmental adherence to all Bank, state and federal regulations applicable to department operations.
- Communicates and implements any changes that may occur.
Commercial Banking Administration
- Performs budget and other administrative activities.
- Prepares detailed information for preparation of the department budget including loan volumes, rates of return and expenditures.
Business Development
- Participates in business development activities to promote the Bank, its products and services.
- Interacts with most important customers to maintain a positive business relationship. Develops new business relationships.
Community and Industry Involvement
- Serves on external industry related committees to stay current with local and national economic, financial, political and legislative events and climates that could affect commercial lending activities.
- Holds leadership roles on these committees to help support the Bank’s community initiatives.
Commercial Lending Leadership
- Participates in all commercial lending related planning activities and may serve as a member of the Senior Loan Committee.
Other Responsibilities
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business related field;
- Minimum of 20 years commercial lending experience with a proven successful sales record;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience managing for a progressive financial services company in the Commercial and Industrial and Middle Market segments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in finance, business or economics preferred.

- Experience in executing programs which have successfully improved the cross selling of all products and services throughout a major financial services company;
- Experience in attracting, leading, managing, developing and retaining a highly competent and committed group of Commercial Lenders;
- Reputation for developing, building and maintaining a high-level customer service organization and the ability to guide commercial lenders with high-net-worth clients and centers of influence;
- Thorough understanding of the trends, competition, communities and businesses in the regional market;
- Thorough understanding of market risks, macro/micro economic issues as they apply to banking, and lending policies and procedures;
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
- Frequent travel throughout the region;
- High-energy, result-oriented and works well in a team environment;
- Successfully completed a credit training program.
- History of community involvement and leadership through volunteerism and/or representation with charitable organizations.

Schedule:
- This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home, based on business needs. This arrangement may change without notice.
