Job Description

Data Center Design Execution Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Center Design Execution Lead based in the United States.

This role sits at the core of large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure delivery, ensuring that next-generation data centers are designed, built, and commissioned in alignment with advanced technical requirements for high-performance computing environments. You will act as the critical link between internal engineering stakeholders and external design and construction partners, translating complex infrastructure needs into executable design standards. The role spans the full lifecycle of data center development, from early concept and schematic design through construction, commissioning, and turnover. It requires strong technical fluency across mechanical, electrical, and cooling systems in high-density environments, alongside the ability to manage external partners with precision and accountability. You will also play a key role in building execution frameworks, managing design integrity, and ensuring continuity across fast-moving, multi-site programs. This is a highly cross-functional and strategic position where technical rigor meets delivery leadership in one of the most demanding infrastructure domains.

Accountabilities:

This role is responsible for driving the successful execution of data center design and delivery programs, ensuring alignment between internal technical requirements and external partner execution across all project phases.

  • Own the execution of technical requirements across third-party data center design and construction partners, ensuring design intent is preserved from concept through delivery
  • Define and implement structured design execution frameworks, including deliverable standards, review gates, and quality control processes
  • Oversee design development across all phases, including schematic design, permitting, construction documents, construction administration, and commissioning
  • Manage design change control processes, ensuring technical decisions are properly documented and implemented through construction
  • Review RFIs and contractor submissions to maintain design integrity while adapting to field conditions
  • Ensure continuity of technical intent across design, construction, commissioning, and turnover phases
  • Lead constructability reviews and coordinate cross-discipline alignment to identify and mitigate execution risks
  • Oversee QA/QC processes and partner performance against design and delivery standards
  • Coordinate with internal teams including construction, supply chain, operations, and security to align infrastructure requirements with design outcomes
  • Support commissioning and closeout activities, ensuring compliance with defined acceptance criteria and as-built documentation standards
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, design improvement, and cost/schedule trade-offs across programs
  • Provide oversight of external partners and owners’ representatives conducting site reviews and progress reporting
Requirements:

This role requires deep experience in complex infrastructure delivery, with strong technical understanding of data center systems and proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary execution across external partners.

  • 10+ years of experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or capital programs, preferably including data centers or mission-critical facilities
  • Experience in design execution, owner’s engineering, program management, or technical delivery roles working with external engineering and construction partners
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, power, and cooling systems in high-density computing environments
  • Experience managing design documentation, RFIs, change orders, and construction administration workflows
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and ensure alignment in complex, fast-paced project environments
  • Strong familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and industry practices for mission-critical facilities
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-scaling environments where processes must be defined and implemented
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Experience with BIM tools such as Revit or Autodesk platforms is preferred
  • Experience with large-scale AI/HPC infrastructure and high-density cooling or 50+ MW environments is a strong plus
  • PE or RA certification is a plus
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual compensation ranging from $320,000 to $405,000 USD
  • Opportunity to lead design execution for cutting-edge, large-scale AI and HPC infrastructure
  • High-impact role shaping global-scale mission-critical data center delivery programs
  • Collaborative environment working across engineering, construction, and operations teams
  • Exposure to advanced infrastructure challenges including high-density compute and next-generation cooling systems
  • Hybrid work model with expected in-office presence (~25%) depending on role requirements
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous paid time off and parental leave policies
  • Visa sponsorship support available for eligible candidates
  • Equity and/or additional benefits depending on employment structure.
