Working as a member of the Philanthropy team, develops and manages a portfolio of 100-150 individuals with capacity to make five-and six-figure gifts. I. Major Responsibilities:
- Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors for UMass Memorial Health; regularly meets with approximately 5-10 prospective and existing donors each month.
- Partners with chairs, chiefs and physicians and other internal leaders to facilitate effective donor conversations about philanthropic support for UMass Memorial Health. Prepares and writes effective briefings and prospect reports. Collaborates with other philanthropy staff on qualifying new grateful patients and friends of UMass Memorial Health and developing an effective moves management plan.
- Develops deep understanding of UMass Memorial Health’s mission, programs, relevant departments, and priorities to effectively communicate cases for support and gift opportunities.
- Assists with annual program planning, goal setting, progress reports and evaluations.
- Actively participates in prospect strategy meetings and develop short- and long-term prospect plans for top donors and prospective donors.
- Partners with existing donors and volunteer leaders to identify leads to new prospective donors and engage them.
- Staffs appropriate board members and volunteers on providing introductions and new donor connections to UMass Memorial Health and affiliated hospitals.
- Plans and executes small, focused cultivation/stewardship events and/or virtual updates around appropriate priorities and themes, encourage top prospects/donors to participate, and assiduously follows up with attendees for further engagement toward a gift.
- Captures and logs all meaningful donor interactions and proposals in Raiser’s Edge. Maintains records to provide accurate and robust records and to foster consistency in donor relationships.
- Develops proposals and other written materials as necessary and appropriate. Partners with other philanthropy team members on crafting meaningful cultivation, recognition and stewardship materials.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in major gift solicitation and stewardship.
- Demonstrated fundraising success in one-to-one solicitations and relationship building.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal communications skills.
- Proven track record in working within complex programs and managing multiple demands.
- Proven ability to make decisions, work independently, and as a team player. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare fundraising.
