This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regional Business Director, Neurology (Rare Disease) based in the United States.

This leadership role is responsible for guiding a regional sales organization focused on rare disease and neurology therapeutics across a complex and highly specialized market. The position oversees a team of Area Business Specialists, ensuring strong execution of commercial strategy, consistent performance, and alignment with organizational goals. It combines strategic leadership, field engagement, and coaching excellence to drive both business growth and patient impact. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional partners to execute regional initiatives and strengthen customer relationships in a highly regulated environment. It also demands strong analytical and market awareness within orphan disease ecosystems. This is a high-visibility leadership position for an experienced sales executive who thrives in shaping teams and delivering results in specialized healthcare markets.

Accountabilities:

Provide regional leadership by translating corporate and commercial objectives into actionable field strategies, while guiding, coaching, and developing a team of Area Business Specialists to achieve sales performance and ethical execution standards.

  • Partner with senior leadership to define and execute regional business plans aligned with national objectives
  • Lead field engagement activities including regular coaching visits, performance reviews, and business planning sessions
  • Drive adoption of sales excellence standards including account planning, territory management, clinical knowledge, and compliant selling practices
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with healthcare stakeholders while representing the organization’s commitment to patient outcomes
  • Manage regional budget allocation to maximize commercial effectiveness and return on investment
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and development of sales talent within the region
  • Collaborate with marketing, training, and cross-functional teams to implement regional initiatives and optimize execution
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree preferred), with 10+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or rare/orphan disease sales experience and at least 5+ years in sales leadership roles managing field teams in a complex healthcare environment.

  • Deep expertise in orphan disease or specialty pharmaceutical sales models and distribution networks
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing sales teams across large geographic regions
  • Strong understanding of healthcare stakeholder engagement, compliance requirements, and clinical/product knowledge in neurology or rare disease markets
  • Demonstrated ability to drive performance through coaching, accountability, and structured field leadership
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills across internal teams and external customers
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision-making abilities with attention to detail and execution discipline
  • Ability to manage frequent travel, including overnight trips and periodic weekend or evening commitments
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to operate within an assigned multi-state territory
