Position Overview:

The Welder's Helper is responsible forhandling project logistics, prepare materials, alltasks essential to the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas pipelines. and ensure the job site is safe.Work may be conducted in the field or within a shop environment, adhering to industry safety and quality standards.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Metal Preparation: Cutting, grinding, and beveling metal pieces to fit exact project specifications before the welder joins them.

Post-Weld Cleanup: Grinding down, chipping slag, or brushing finished welds to remove impurities, excess metal, and create a smooth finish.

Equipment & Supply Management: Setting up rigs, moving heavy equipment, and ensuring welders have a constant supply of welding rods, grinding discs, and gases.

Safety & Environment: Clearing the workspace of fire hazards, watching for sparks, and acting as a fire watch to keep the environment safe.

Heavy Lifting: Transporting, loading, and unloading heavy steel beams, pipes, or other materials.

Qualifications/Special Knowledge Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient knowledge of gas installation techniques and industry standards.

Exhibits ability to think practically and creatively to implement the best safety practices.

Responds quickly and efficiently to emergency situations while remaining calm in a crisis

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

1-2 years of welder helper experience.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is often required to stand, walk, and use hands/fingers.

Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.

Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Able to climb a minimum of 5 rungs of an extension ladder.

Ability to travel to project sites that are typically within a 4-hour radius of the home office.

Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards
