ABOUT THE ROLE

The Public Policy Advisor provides substantive support to the firm's Congressional Investigations practice to monitor and analyze congressional developments, industry trends, and current events that impact clients. The Advisor engages in a variety of client billable and non-billable work, maintaining a high standard of client service across all responsibilities.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the legislative process on Capitol Hill and key relationships as needed. Track congressional oversight activities, pending legislation, industry trends, and current events that impact clients and prospective clients.
  • Attend and summarize congressional hearings.
  • Conduct extensive, in-depth and time-sensitive research and package findings.
  • Draft client-facing talking points, briefings, client alerts, letters, and other memoranda.
  • Produce daily and weekly updates highlighting congressional oversight, media coverage, and other client-relevant developments for the practice group.
  • Coordinate and/or attend meetings for and with members of the Congressional Investigations team (and other practices) our clients, and with members of Congress and/or their staff.
  • Assist with client development, including conducting research and working with business development on presentations and proposals.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • 5 years of experience related to public policy, legislative processes or similar experience required.
  • Understanding of regulatory and administrative processes.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and resolving issues proactively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to prepare quality work product in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ability to research, analyze and synthesize large amounts of data.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a strong client service orientation.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.

Washington, D.C. salary range: $122k to $169k
