Job Description
Provides pharmaceutical services for patients and hospital staff while maintaining accurate statistical data. Is available to communicate with physicians and staff in regards to any concerns or questions related to drug acquisitions and therapy; assumes responsibility for continuing education required for licensure. Participates in Quality Improvement activities of hospital.
Prepares and dispenses pharmaceuticals according to physician orders to include employee prescriptions.
Prepares TPN solutions, chemotherapy, and other IV admixture preparations according to physician orders and standards of practice as required.
Performs Pyxis Duties.
Maintains patient medication profiles.
Maintains pharmaceuticals inventory.
Assists in supervising ancillary pharmacy personnel.
Completes clinical duties and projects as assigned.
Performs as a regularly assigned I.V. specialist.
Performs as a chemotherapy specialist.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served.
BS in Pharmacy with 1500 hours of internship.
Licensed thru Alabama State Board of Pharmacy, Control Substance license required, Parenteral certification by ABOP.
