Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for assisting with the development, coordination, communication, and administration of JMH’s employee benefits program (including but not limited to dental, vision, flexible spending, disability, life, self-funded medical insurance, and retirement plans). May assist the Compensation & Benefits Coordinator in the development and the communications of all Human Resources related policies and procedures. Interprets such plans, policies and procedures as needed. Continuously evaluates employee benefits programs and makes recommendations for appropriate changes to remain competitive, as needed.

In the absence of the Compensation & Benefits Coordinator, may conduct employee benefit orientations on a routine basis to enroll newly hired employees and/or those employees newly eligible for employee benefit programs in the medical, dental, long and short-term disability, and life insurances as well as other ancillary employee benefits.

Coordinates retirement plan activities including but not limited to providing information for employer contribution calculations, reconciling employee contributions, communicating various disbursement methods available to participants, organizing retirement receptions, etc.

Coordinates, monitors, and maintains records for Leaves-of-Absence in conjunction with JMH policy, the Family Medical Leave Act, USERRRA, ADA, and other state and federal laws/regulations. Maintains appropriate documentation and collection of payroll withholdings for benefits for employees on LOA. Works to process all short- and long-term disability claims through the STD/LTD vendor.

Tracks employee injuries and coordinates Workers Comp program including but not limited to: filing claims, processing medical bills for payment, maintaining OSHA log, assuring compliance with FMLA, compiling statistics, coordinating Temporary Transitional Work Program, and acting as a member of the SIMS Committee.

Ensures JMH fulfills all aspects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This includes monitoring hours worked by employees as well as the provisions of the JMH health plan.

Responds to unemployment compensation claims. Participates in unemployment hearings.

Manages the JMH Tuition Reimbursement program by tracking applications and routing through the approval and disbursement process. Maintains records and provides reports as needed.

Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation as appropriate.

Backs up the Compensation & Benefits Coordinator if/when necessary.

Additional office responsibilities include:

  1. Assists the Compensation & Benefits Coordinator and/or Director of Human Resources in special projects.
  2. Assists in planning, coordination, and direction of employee activities to help in maintaining teamwork and camaraderie throughout our facility (i.e., employee events, National Hospital Week, Retirement Teas, Activities Committee, etc.).
  3. Provides back-up for Human Resources Representative as needed for lunch breaks, vacations, and other periods of absence.
  4. Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  5. Assist with Recruitment as needed (Job Fairs, Walk-In Wednesdays, Interviewing)

Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of JMH.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and hospital policies and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; or associate degree with minimum of 2 years of related experience required. In lieu of formal education, equivalent related work experience of 3-5 years is required. C.E.B.S. completion or partial completion of course work preferred. PHR/SHRM-CP or SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification desired.

SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday, day shift


7:30am- 4:00pm; Monday through Friday.
75 Hours per two-week pay period. Salaried position.
