Position Summary
The Account Executive is responsible for developing and maintaining referral relationships within the healthcare community to increase awareness of Elite Home Health services and generate patient referrals. This role serves as a key liaison between referral sources and the agency, promoting our services while ensuring exceptional customer service and patient-centered care.
In addition to business development responsibilities, the Account Executive serves as a sales leader within their assigned territory by helping drive growth strategies, mentoring team members, and supporting agency sales initiatives. This role partners with leadership to identify opportunities for market expansion, improve referral development efforts, and promote accountability toward organizational growth goals.
The Account Executive works closely with clinical leadership, intake staff, and operational teams to support growth initiatives and ensure smooth transitions of care for referred patients.
Scope of Practice
This role is focused on sales, business development, and relationship management and does not provide direct patient care. The Account Executive represents the agency within the community, educates referral sources on available services, and supports the agency's growth objectives while maintaining compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and ethical marketing practices.
Essential Job Functions
1. Business Development & Referral Growth
- Develop and maintain relationships with physicians, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, case managers, and other referral sources
- Generate qualified patient referrals through ongoing outreach and relationship-building efforts
- Develop and execute territory growth plans to achieve agency census and admission goals
- Identify opportunities to expand service lines and penetrate new markets
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key referral partners
- Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance expectations
2. Community Outreach & Relationship Management
- Conduct regular in-person visits with referral sources and community partners
- Educate healthcare professionals on Elite Home Health services, programs, and admission criteria
- Attend networking events, healthcare meetings, and community functions to promote agency services
- Maintain a professional and positive presence within the healthcare community
3. Sales Leadership & Team Support
- Assist in developing and implementing agency sales strategies and growth initiatives
- Mentor and support new Account Executives and business development team members
- Share best practices and provide guidance on referral relationship management
- Participate in onboarding and training activities for new sales staff
- Monitor territory performance and recommend strategies for improvement
- Collaborate with leadership to establish and achieve sales objectives
4. Referral Coordination
- Collaborate with intake and clinical teams to facilitate timely processing of referrals
- Ensure referral sources receive exceptional communication and customer service
- Monitor referral activity and follow up on outstanding opportunities
- Assist in resolving concerns or barriers that may impact referral relationships
5. Market Analysis & Strategic Planning
- Analyze referral trends, market conditions, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth
- Develop action plans to strengthen market presence within assigned territories
- Identify opportunities for service line growth and market expansion
- Present market intelligence and growth recommendations to leadership
- Support annual business development planning and strategic initiatives
6. Leadership Collaboration
- Partner with agency leadership to drive census growth and organizational objectives
- Participate in leadership meetings and provide updates on sales performance
- Support cross-functional initiatives between clinical, intake, operations, and revenue cycle teams
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and exceptional customer service
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of referral activities, contacts, and business development efforts
- Utilize CRM and agency systems to track sales activities and outcomes
- Prepare reports and updates regarding referral trends, goals, and growth initiatives
- Participate in sales meetings and leadership discussions as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent healthcare sales experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare sales, business development, physician relations, or home health marketing experience preferred.
- Home health, hospice, or post-acute care experience strongly preferred
- Established healthcare referral relationships within the service area preferred
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, or training sales teams preferred
- Demonstrated success achieving healthcare sales and census growth goals preferred
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and home health services preferred
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout assigned territory required
- Ability to pass background screening and all compliance requirements

- Frequent local travel within assigned territory

- Occasional attendance at community events, networking functions, and healthcare meetings
