The Senior Systems Engineer / Solutions Architect will serve as a key technical leader responsible for designing, securing, and supporting complex technology environments for multiple clients.
This role combines advanced Microsoft cloud engineering, cybersecurity expertise, automation, and client-facing solution architecture.
The ideal candidate will act as the highest level of technical escalation, resolving complex infrastructure challenges while mentoring technical teams.
You will design scalable solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity management, networking, and endpoint environments.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a senior technologist who enjoys solving difficult problems, improving processes, and building innovative automation capabilities.

The Senior Systems Engineer / Solutions Architect will provide advanced technical leadership across infrastructure, cloud, security, and automation initiatives. This role will own complex technical escalations, design client solutions, and develop scalable processes that improve operational efficiency and service quality.
- Serve as the highest-level technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, cloud, security, and systems issues.
- Lead root-cause analysis for recurring incidents and high-impact technical challenges.
- Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical teams by sharing expertise, creating documentation, and developing operational best practices.
- Design end-to-end technical architectures across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, security, networking, and endpoint management environments.
- Collaborate with leadership and client-facing teams to scope technical solutions, contribute to proposals, define project requirements, and estimate implementation efforts.
- Lead technical onboarding, migrations, and transformation initiatives for new and existing client environments.
- Establish architecture standards, reference designs, and technical frameworks that enable consistent service delivery.
- Architect and manage Microsoft cloud environments, including Entra ID/Azure AD, Conditional Access, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Azure infrastructure.
- Implement and maintain security controls including identity protection, MFA, endpoint security, data protection, and governance practices.
- Support compliance initiatives aligned with frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, and HITRUST.
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and other scripting tools to streamline provisioning, monitoring, remediation, and reporting.
- Build AI-assisted workflows and automation tools to improve documentation, ticket management, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work through automation, self-service solutions, and improved processes.
- Support infrastructure operations including Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, backup and disaster recovery, firewalls, switching, and VPN technologies.
- Participate in critical incident response and escalation activities as needed.
The ideal candidate is an experienced systems engineer and solutions architect with a strong managed services background, deep Microsoft expertise, and the ability to combine technical execution with strategic thinking. They should be comfortable supporting multiple client environments while driving innovation and operational improvements.
- Proven experience working within a scaled Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment supporting multiple clients and technology ecosystems.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365/O365 administration and architecture.
- Strong knowledge of identity and access management, endpoint security, Conditional Access, and modern security practices.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting skills with experience automating IT operations and workflows.
- Experience designing and implementing automation solutions, with interest or experience building AI-powered tools and agents.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a Tier 3 escalation resource or senior technical authority for support teams.
- Experience designing client-facing technical solutions, including architecture documentation and implementation planning.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients, leadership, and technical teams.
- Ability to balance hands-on engineering responsibilities with mentoring and technical leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience supporting healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert, Security+, or similar credentials are preferred.
- Experience with additional programming or scripting languages such as Python is beneficial.
- Familiarity with MSP platforms such as RMM and PSA tools (including ConnectWise, NinjaOne, or similar solutions) is preferred.
