Job Description
This position is primarily focused on ABB and FANUC industrial programming, robotic process development, CNC machining, including RAPID, TP, and G-code programming. The technician will work directly with production equipment to develop and modify production programs, improve cycle performance, and troubleshoot system related issues to prevent equipment downtime.
This role requires a general working knowledge of industrial electrical and control systems. The technician should be capable of understanding automated machine sequencing, interpreting PLC-controlled equipment operation, troubleshooting I/O, control-system, electrical, and mechanical issues.
Requirements:Responsibilities & Duties
- Program, optimize, and troubleshoot ABB and FANUC industrial robots.
- Modify robot positions, motion paths, speeds, zones, tool data, work objects, frames, and process parameters.
- Establish and troubleshoot robot tool frames, user frames, work objects, payload capabilities, and coordinate systems.
- Perform robot mastering, calibration, program restoration, and backup/recovery functions as required.
- Analyze robot cycle times and modify programs to improve efficiency, repeatability, and equipment utilization.
- Troubleshoot robot controllers, servo systems, I/O, field devices, sensors, and safety equipment.
- Read and interpret part drawings, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment documentation, and technical manuals.
- Ability to read Ladder, US and EU IEC wiring diagrams.
Qualifications
- Related associate degree, or 4+ years of equivalent industrial experience in robotics, mechatronics, and/or CNC machining.
- Preferred formal ABB and/or FANUC robotics training certification.
- Experience with ABB RobotStudio, FANUC ROBOGUIDE, or other robot simulation/offline programming software.
- Experience working with PLC and relay logic controlled equipment.
- Experience with industrial networks such as EtherNet IP, DeviceNet, Profinet, Twin/Ether-CAT, Modbus and Modbus+ networks.
- Experience with machine vision, or automated robotic guidance systems.
Work Environment
This position works in an industrial manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with production equipment, industrial robots, CNC machinery, electrical control systems, and automated process equipment. Some situations may require lifting up to 60lbs.
