Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Check-Out Scheduler/Back-Up Clinical Medical Assistant to join our team at Summit Orthopaedics, a level 1 outpatient trauma clinic in Lake Oswego, Oregon. In this role, your primary responsibility will be serving as our Check-Out Scheduler-- acting as the critical final point of contact for patients before they leave our clinic to ensure follow-up care, orders, and appointments are handled seamlessly. Additionally, you will serve as a Back-Up Clinical MA, stepping into clinical care when needed to support patient flow. Position Details:

  • Hours: 8:00 - 5:00
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Pay Range: $18 - $24
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO accrual, paid holidays, and scrub stipend for our full-time employees.

Responsibilities: You will play a critical role in coordinating care by ensuring that follow-up appointments are scheduled accurately and efficiently, while also supporting clinical flow when needed.

Check-Out & Care Coordination (Primary Focus):

  • Patient Check-Out & Scheduling: Act as the "last stop" for patients prior to leaving the clinic, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing patients with their orders for physical therapy, imaging, referrals, or other specialized procedures per provider treatment plans.
  • Orders & Patient Instruction: Review provider orders with patients, provide physical copies/instructions, and clearly communicate follow-up care plans and processes.
  • Insurance Authorization Guidance: Educate patients on the prior authorization process, setting realistic expectations regarding the necessary lead time required by the authorization team and insurance providers before scheduling specific procedures or advanced imaging.
  • EMR Order Entry: Accurately enter orders, referrals, physical therapy orders, lab request, advanced imaging orders, and follow-up notes into our EMR system.

Back-Up Clinical Support (Secondary/As Needed):

  • Patient Flow & Rooming: Step in to maintain clinic flow by escorting patients to and from the lobby and exam rooms.
  • Clinical Assisting: Assist providers with minor procedures, application and removal of casts, splints, and braces, drawing up injections as ordered, and preparing patients for treatment.
  • Wound & Dressing Care: Remove splints, bandages, and dressings; remove sutures and staples; and provide wound care instructions as directed by providers.
  • Clinic Operations: Assist with cleaning, sanitizing, stocking, and turning over exam rooms between patients, as well as performing opening and closing clinical duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in a medical clinic setting as a Medical Assistant, Scheduler, or patient services support role (preferred).
  • Experience with patient scheduling and care coordination in a fast-paced medical setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems preferred (AthenaOne experience is a plus).
  • Familiarity with and ability to comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to reliably commute to Lake Oswego, OR.
  • Ability to participate in pre-employment background check upon hire.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
