Job Description Job Title: PainterJob Function: Rebuild/ProductionReports To: Machinist Supervisor, Supply Chain Manager, Rebuild ManagerClassification: Non-ExemptDate Approved/Revised: February 27, 2024 Summary The Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting various components and parts to meet quality standards. The role involves working with a variety of materials and surfaces, ensuring that finished products meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmployee must be able to perform these essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job, absent undue hardship.
Physical Requirements- Prepares items for finishing operations to include cleaning, masking, and sanding as required.
- Paints items as required.
- Inspects finish to verify conformity.
- Ensures items are identified with work order number prior to painting or powder coating.
- Complies with all safety and hazardous material procedures, wears protective equipment as required to meet or exceed OSHA and company requirements.
- May provide training to other employees on painting and powder coating operations.
- Maintains all aspects of work place cleanliness and organization.
- Required to maintain accurate records.
- May be required to drive forklift trucks.
- May be required to get additional training or certification.
- May provide assistance to other departments, as needed.
- May be required to participate in Small Group Improvement Activity Teams, daily Team Meetings and Team Exercise sessions.
- Required to identify opportunities for improvements and submit in accordance with Continuous Improvement Program.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Complies with the requirements of the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System (when required).
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend and kneel on a regular basis.
- Regular manual dexterity/coordination: hand/eye movements, motor control.
- Regular visual effort: concentrated reading of documentation or close viewing of computer displays.
- Able to push, pull and lift up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Employee may be exposed to hazardous substances including a variety of petroleum- based products, cleaning solvents, etc. on a regular basis.
- Employee may be exposed to sharp (cutting) tools on a regular basis.
- Time Management - Effective time management skills to independently complete tasks with minimal disruption to company users.
- Organization – Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain a smooth work flow.
- Teamwork – Ability to work closely with a variety of employees while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Problem Solving – Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Communication – Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Ability to ask detailed questions to comprehend requests.
- Safety and Security – Follow safety policies/plans created by the company; utilize tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure paint booth, oven, and wash bays are working properly.
- Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
- High School graduate, or equivalent.
- Additional vocational training or certification in painting is a plus.
- This position does not require any special certifications, licenses, or registrations.
