Area Sales Manager - UP

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Area Sales Manager - UP based in India.

This role is responsible for driving sales growth and achieving commercial targets across Uttar Pradesh.
You will manage regional sales operations, strengthen customer and distribution relationships, and identify opportunities for sustainable growth.
The position combines field sales leadership, market analysis, customer engagement, forecasting, and receivables management.
You will build strong relationships with key customers and industry influencers, including veterinarians and nutritionists.
Working closely with senior sales leadership, you will turn market insights and sales data into actionable strategies and performance improvements.
The role offers an opportunity to take ownership of a defined territory while contributing directly to business growth in the animal health industry.
Success will require strong commercial judgment, communication skills, organization, and a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities.

Accountabilities:
  • Drive sales growth across Uttar Pradesh and ensure achievement of assigned regional sales targets.
  • Develop, manage, and strengthen an efficient distribution network across the assigned territory to maximize market reach and sales performance.
  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with key customers and industry influencers, particularly veterinarians and nutritionists.
  • Gather customer, competitor, and market feedback and communicate relevant insights to the reporting manager to support commercial decision-making.
  • Regularly review sales performance data, identify trends and performance gaps, and prepare clear reports for senior leadership.
  • Evaluate successful and underperforming sales initiatives, identify improvement opportunities, and implement actions to strengthen regional sales metrics.
  • Plan and execute sales meetings, field visits, and customer interactions to gather feedback, share insights, and support business development.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and proactively plan meetings and market visits to ensure effective territory coverage and execution.
  • Monitor and collect outstanding customer receivables, ensuring timely follow-up and effective credit management.
  • Provide timely updates and reports to the Zonal Sales Manager on sales performance, collections, market developments, and territory activities.
Requirements:
  • 5–7 years of relevant sales experience, preferably within the animal health or a closely related industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required; an MBA in Marketing or a related specialization will be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of sales operations, territory management, customer relationship development, distribution networks, and commercial performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, industry professionals, internal teams, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret sales data and identify actionable opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a customer-focused approach to stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in time-sensitive and fast-changing situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to facilitate training, guide stakeholders, and influence sales performance.
  • Strong adaptability, initiative, and ownership, with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic field-sales environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and common business productivity tools.
  • Genuine interest in and passion for the animal health industry.
