Job Description

Job Summary:

The Nock Laboratory, in the Department of Psychology, at Harvard University is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to coordinate and assist with studies aimed at understanding and preventing suicidal behavior among adolescents and adults presenting to the emergency room or the psychiatric inpatient unit.


Job-Specific Responsibilities:

The RAs responsibilities include participation in all phases of the research process, including: conducting literature reviews; IRB preparation; recruiting and running clinical participants; data collection, entry, and management; and administrative assistance. The RA may be responsible for recruitment and follow-up of research participants in several studies, as well as supervision of undergraduate and volunteer RAs.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (required):

One year of related experience required.


Additional Qualifications and Skills (preferred):

A Bachelor's degree in psychology (or related field) and previous clinical psychological research experience (especially with clinical subjects) is strongly preferred. The RA must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also function well as part of a team. Writing, computer skills (e.g., proficiency with programming and smartphone applications), and supervisory experience are highly desirable. Prior experience working with clinically severe/suicidal patients strongly preferred.

    This is a grant-funded two-year term position starting immediately. Renewal of this position is contingent upon continued grant funding.

    All formal offers will be made by FAS Human Resources.

    Work Format Details

    This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that all duties and responsibilities must be performed at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
