Field Application Engineer

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled engineering professional to work at the intersection of advanced 3D measurement technologies, customer success, and industrial innovation. As a Field Application Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor supporting customers across industries such as aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and engineering. The position combines hands-on demonstrations, technical training, workflow optimization, and customer support in a dynamic, collaborative environment. You will work closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to deliver tailored solutions that solve complex industrial challenges while helping customers maximize the value of cutting-edge metrology technologies. Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical expert for customers and internal teams, providing guidance on product capabilities, workflows, and applications.
  • Support Account Managers through technical demonstrations, presentations, and customized solution development for prospective customers.
  • Develop and deliver technical training sessions for customers both onsite and remotely.
  • Provide post-sales application support and advise customers on best practices to optimize product performance and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Create and standardize demonstration workflows to ensure consistent messaging and technical delivery.
  • Collaborate with Field Application Engineers and Support Engineers to troubleshoot technical issues, test workflows, and share knowledge across teams.
  • Prepare, maintain, and organize technical training materials, demonstration equipment, and documentation.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product Marketing, R&D, and Customer Service teams to communicate customer requirements and support technical proposals.
  • Assist with advanced customer support and escalation management when necessary.
  • Represent products and solutions at industry events, conferences, seminars, and trade shows.
  • Contribute insights and technical documentation that support organizational decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure timely, professional, and high-quality customer support and technical engagement activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Surveying, Drafting, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of 2D and 3D CAD systems and engineering design principles.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and customer relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience delivering technical demonstrations, presentations, or training sessions is highly preferred.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical and application-related challenges.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote and field-based environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally as required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
  • Experience in manufacturing, metrology, industrial engineering, or related technical industries is considered a strong advantage.
