We are currently hiring for a working level Hardware Engineering Developer (Test Engineering), to join our Operations team in Ottawa, ON. You will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, ensuring alignment and driving ownership in the defining, developing, deploying and supporting of industry leading Test Strategies and Automated Test Equipment used in product design verification and manufacturing test. You will contribute to ensuring that products meet quality, reliability, and performance standards.
You will act as technical support on resolution of test process, test equipment design and product performance issues adversely impacting quality, cost or delivery targets. You will provide the necessary technical training to production personnel in the operation of test equipment and associated procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of test systems used in product design verification, manufacturing acceptance test and environmental stress screening (ESS).
- Support the development & execution of test plans and procedures for electronic products and systems
- Troubleshoot and debug issues related to product & test system design, & production test failures
- Analyze test data and provide recommendations for process improvements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to system design & test processes
- Represent Test Engineering at test & product design reviews including with external customers.
- Collaborate with product engineering design teams in the analysis and reporting of the testability of new designs; recommend product design changes to accommodate optimal component, sub-assembly and unit level test strategies
- Provide project leadership and technical guidance to more junior personnel.
- Define project schedule in cooperation with project management and execute to the project plan.
- Contribute to development of Test Engineering project budgets and monitor performance to the approved budget.
- Contribute to strategic technology road maps for Test Engineering.
What You Need to Have to Succeed:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in test engineering or a related field
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the development, integration and commissioning of automated test equipment (ATE) hardware.
- Strong understanding & experience in hardware design
- Strong understanding & experience in test instrumentation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent collaborative team skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Project Management experience including familiarity with MS Project, & project management methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering development frameworks & processes
- Knowledge & experience in design requirements definition and management
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Proven ability to lead and co-ordinate various discipline (Engineering & Non-engineering) to project success, through strong relationship buildings skills, effective meetings, and excellent verbal and written communication
- Project Management Professional (PMP) training and/or certification is considered an asset
- Experience with design for test (DFT) methodologies & test strategy planning
- Experience with environmental stress screening (ESS) equipment and methodologies
- Detailed knowledge and experience in Structural Test processes (ICT, boundary scan, flying probe, etc.)
- Proficiency in applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to monitor, analyze, and improve process performance and quality
- Knowledge and experience in working with CCA (circuit card assembly) Contract Manufacturers during development and production is considered an asset
- Experience in development of mechanical drawings is considered an asset
- Experience in software development using languages including CVI, C++, C#, LabView, SQL, TestStand, Python, VB.net is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts as they apply to test development, data analysis, & automation.
The hiring range for this position $85,000 - 110,000. Our goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including:
