Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Crew Change Coordinator to join our team and work alongside our present Personnel Manager to support all aspects of crew management, recruitment, and personnel administration for our towing vessels. This role is critical to ensuring that our vessels are staffed with qualified and competent personnel, and that crew members are provided with the necessary support for their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department and supervisors to manage, track, process, and submit time entry and payroll. Ensuring crew members receive appropriate benefits, payroll support, and assistance with any personnel-related matters
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of qualified deck and wheelhouse personnel for towing vessels, including conducting interviews, reviewing applications, and coordinating pre-employment screenings
  • Administer crew changes and crew scheduling, ensuring that vessels are adequately staffed and that crew rotations are managed efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate personnel records, including certifications, training records, and other relevant documentation, and ensure that all crew members meet the necessary qualifications and compliance standards
  • Coordinate with training providers to schedule and monitor crew training and development programs, ensuring that crew members receive required training and certifications as per company and regulatory standards
  • Assist in managing crew performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and incentive programs, as well as providing support for crew welfare and dispute resolution as needed
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of crew retention strategies, employee engagement initiatives, and continuous improvement of crew management processes
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to crew management and personnel administration
  • Coordinate and support vessel crew logistical needs, including but not limited to crew change arrangements, transportation, and vessel grocery orders
  • Participate in field safety observations to promote safe work practices, reinforce company safety expectations, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support crew change and personnel needs outside normal business hours

Location:

This position is based in Laplace, LA, with occasional travel to other company facilities and vessel locations as needed

Requirements:
  • Experience in crew management, human resources, or personnel administration, preferably within the maritime or transportation industry is a plus but not required
  • Ability to manage, track, process and submit approximately 150+ employees time sheets per pay period across multiple locations is a plus but not required
  • Understanding of maritime regulations and requirements related to crew certifications, licensing, training, and other relevant standards is a plus but not required
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of individuals, including crew members, management, and external partners
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software for data management, reporting, and communications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive personnel information with discretion and professionalism
  • Knowledge of crew scheduling software and systems is a plus but not required
